Hi,
My friend is looking to buy a new camera and would like a decent entry level SLR.
Does anyone have any recommendations. She's currently looking at a Nikon D3100.
Thanks

I could only imagine what a sudden overnight wake up call to the sirens going off would be like!
First ya'd get Pat all like ... " Ahh mate , its only a car alarm ... go back asleep " .......
Then ya'd have John running in ... " Sh** lads ! , tornado sirens!! , quick get everyone up! Wheres me laptop!?... Dave what did u make me drink last night my head is spinnin! " ....
Then ya'd have Arron and Dave..... " Sirens ye?.... ah k cool sweet ... just gonna pop in for a quick shower so , shall be out in 10 mins ... Arron do ya have any spare dax wax , never know who we might run into down in the shelter?"
Then ya'd hav Tom running down the hallway ... " Sirens , Tornado SIRENS!! .....Everyone down to the basement! .... Im just heading out to the car to get my camera ! "..... * PAt * .. "Tom ! , grab mine too! , think it would be a SWEET timelapse pal! "
Then Paul strolling out like a zombie ... " k everyone , i looked out my window and from what i can see , we have a low wall cloud to our NSWNE , rotation on it is PHENOMENAL , the storm looks to be kickin it at 40mph so we have approximately 10 mins to get to shelter! * .... THis could be my FIRST NIGHT-Time INTERCEPT at ... 3.05... AM ! Boo yawh!! ... *COughs* ... Now ... EVERYONE TO THE BASEMENT lets go lets go .... LETS GO LETS GO ! * MAkes Car beeping noise * ... GO GO GO!
ME " Ohhhhhhh MY GOD !!! ..... http://cdn.nwstatic.co.uk/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.png , " everyone set there cameras on record ! .... Dave what settings u gonna use?" .... * walks casually to basment *
N I'd be yelling at everyone to get in the cars now! LOL @ Tour 2 2010

Sorry I can't make it. I have 2 formal lesson observations next week, lessons to plan and my english assignment is due on the 13th (Only 2250 words to go).
Whilst you guys are out drinking think of all the fun things you could be doing. Like the above. LOL
Have a good one.

Still snowing lightly. Nothing to speak of in terms of settling.

Pleasently surpised by how long our little snow flakesahve been falling. Really didn't think we would see any. Its quite peacful watching it fall against the night sky.
-
light flurries here this morning.

Flippin Heck
Keep an eye on the radar - If that is the light and patchy stuff expected overnight just North of Norfolk and moving South at a fair old clip some places might be in for an extra surprise
Is it me or is it expanding?

This is why I do not go too far in the snow. Clumsiest person in the world, without help from the weather! Hope you guys mend quickly x
Expected to drive to runwell tomorrow morning for uni. Could be interesting. Not looking forward to it at all.

Lightly snowing here.

A few pics of Millie in the snow. Its nearly too deep for her. She had to leap through it like a gazelle.

Morning all.
Woken up by a very excited and soaking wet, icy cold puppy!
Good 15cms at least. She has to leap through the snow as it's too deep for her to walk.
Now sulking as we wont let her back out.

When my daughter did her placements when she was trainning she went to her nearest school instead.
That would be perfect.
Enjoy your snow x

I love the snow so much but am trying to get a teaching qualification at the same time. I want snow but can't miss school. Wouldn't mind if I was a my home school down the road but my tp1 placement is in thundersly at the top of church hill...... oh dear!

Paul, I can't believe you have no snow! Ours was very light for ages then once it started to snow properly, well, I have already had a snowball in my face!

Isn't now the perfect opportunity for a independent/freelancing site to jump onto the free-market that's suddenly become avaliable by this. There's a hundred and one documentaries flying around but only the ITV one with Nick and Laura I think it was (apologies if I got the names mixed up) that has come close to replicating anything more true to form.
A netweather team filming a docu-film in the same context would not only offer a more realistic contrast to what actually goes on in terms of planning for a chase, the actual chase itself and interception. But the more humanistic high and low points of a trip when things don't quite turn out as planned, be it through logistics or mother nature herself. I would much rather support a weather site and actual weather enthusiasts doing this, than paid "actors" more or less being asked to recreate a scene for added effects.
Hey,
The BBC had Great British Weather on earlier this year and have a new show coming out in a few months.
Not sure if there's the audience to justify a UK version. Speaking for a TV point of view.
If you want to develop the idea let me know as I'm and ex tv bod who helped on the above.
