  1. ooo, good call, id love to see that, n i missed out on cow camp last yr so that would be great.

can i also request we check the tyre change kit in the boot fits the tyres on the cars and that copies of the rental agreements and key codes are kept in all cars, you know, just in case ;D

    cant wait!

  2. so newbies try to practice with your camera/video before you go try some low light pics of clouds etc. to get a feel of things as 90% of my photography was motorsport the other 10% snow an family holiday pics nothing like weather photos which quite often have a lower contrast than other things you may be photographing and you need to bring the best out in it you can psuedo HDR or photoshop your pics to enhance the contrast but the better the original the more you can do with it, but don't let the photography ovetake what your looking at as you may miss something, so the the more you know about your photo equipment and what your doing with the easier it will be & you will hopefully see more.

my video camera was brand new and only arrived a couple of days before leaving for tour so had to learn as i went as it done a lot more than my previous camcorders and didn't do quite what i expected at times when trying different settings.

Well I'm currently on a camera course and am updating my facebook with key points all the time. Today will be Making the most of your light - contrast, white balance and lighting.

  3. Morning all,

I'd like a LP towering supercell with cool stryations - you know the ones that look like a stack of plates.

I'd like a nice elephant trunk tornado in a field where no-one will get hurt.

    What I won't do -

I don't really like core punching at any time as it is very dangerious and not reccomended by (as you never know whats on the other side - you could drive straight into a tornado)

and I certainly would not want to do this at night as night chasing is dangerous enough as it is. ( Sorry duckeyh :( )

My coat requests large hail as it thinks it's funny when I hide.

  4. Wonderful, thanks for the info guys.

It sounds as though you have a great time on yuor trips, regardless of how many tornadoes you find.

    Welcome :)

Keep an eye on the kit lists people put on here as it gets closer to the time - that'll give you an idea of anything else you might need to bring like insect repelant, sun screen etc. Only small things but they do add up :)

  5. Theres one of the sd600s availible to reserve in southend too. im nipping to good old lakeside to pick mine up now :D

got mine from currys as they price matched and do monthly insurance plan. said they will do it anywhere as long as an argos within 30 miles has it in stock.

  6. Thanks DB and all.

I work in TV so am across the HD formats - Progressive filming is a big deal right now - amazing results and for desktop editing FCP is the prefered option - even overtaking AVID. The thing is even the industry are working out which cameras are best at the moment and it is such a quick evolution even the pros can't keep up with the tech.

At the moment people are favouring the Cannon XL H1 but your talking serious money for TX quality stuff. They also like to use the Flip Ultra for behind the scenes stuff but in terms of the cameras they give presenters for video diaries it seems to depend on the production.

Got a few contacts to ask anyways but I do thing the Panasonic looks great.

The thing is whatever I buy this year looks to be wiped the floor within the next year - much like my Sony Cybershot DSC-HX1

  7. Oh Dave you do make me laugh. Good thing your parents got you that lens - now you can uy others :D

That lovely panasonic I saw doesn't do slow mo :( Going to do some more research I think as It would be nice if not there's always post production..

I'm looking for some kind of insult to go here as we wouldn't be us without but the most I can muster today is MUPPET in relation to the train thingy.

    Clearly I'm out of practice.

I think I'll settle with *Insert insult here*

  8. I'm thinking of keeping the Nikon 3000 I bought last year so I have the option at least this year, the problem is I need a 2nd lens so I'm looking to buy a 18mm-200mm . Will probably sell the body on ebay when i return to fund the new lens

Lol, I still want yours !

    Loving your plan.

I didn't even have to sell the camcorder idea to the other half. As soon as I said I'd been researching them (literally thats all I said!) and he said "good as we'll need one for the holiday/wedding in florida, your sisters wedding, yours stormchasing and for when we get a puppy anyway." :D

Guess I'll be needing to get one anyway so...

  9. i have a hd super zoom hybrid camera ( one which shoots video and takes stills) last year which i thought would work for me. the thing i found for me was deciding whether to do still or movie n then switching between video n still n having to check the settings each time wasted time n drove me nuts!

thats why im considering either another still camera or a video camera, mind u people seemed to like me a bit nuts!
