Yeah we missed it here by just a couple of miles. Ponty and south towards M4 got an inch or two and the hills around got more. I drive home from Bristol and we had a dusting in the city centre
Is it still snowing heavy where you are?

This seems just to be the front edge. Really depends on how the mountains to the west sap the energy. If not then we could end up with 3-5cm looking at the radar returns
I agree, we had 4-5cm of snow last Saturday night from a similar setup.

No Maerdy mountain is preventing any precip here. It’s dying in the Rhondda
Fingers crossed you get some snow tonight.

Heavy sleet with me.
There's still a fair bit of snow on Caerphilly mountain from last Saturday night, should get a bit more tonight.

Showers definitely pepping up now heading up the Neath Valley. Hoping Aberdare gets a few showers. We missed last Saturdays snow by about 2 miles lol
Any snow yet?

Similar to last Saturday night I think showers are going to align and head towards SE Wales. Whether they fall as snow is another question but the weather app I'm using is saying a good few hours of snow.

Funny how when it hits France it keeps its intensity!

Same! I keep refreshing the MetO website in hope that they extend the warning area for snow. It's definitely further north than forecast so lets see
We'd be very unlucky to not see any snow from this, the GFS model was hinting at snow for South Wales and around the Bristol area days ago.

The very top band of the PPN looks like the perfect angle for a Bristol Channel streamer Wishful thinking I'm sure.. but that's the fun part. Surprise snow is the best snow.
I was thinking that, we've already had a light snow flurry which is better than nothing. It's definitely further north than forecast that's for sure.

Hi Jay,
that’s a good point and I’ve noticed that sometimes when moisture starts to hit cold air why is it that sometimes it does fizzle out ?
For example if we had mild weather and that lot was coming in from the Southwest it was just come right over the region and beyond .
It's just because the air is very cold which stops its progress like a brick wall lol.

Does look further north than forecast. Might get a dusting
Not sure if it'll fizzle out as it hits the cold air though.

Radar has the main precip further north than GFS expected it to be, so who knows maybe we will be in for a surprise after all.
Quite a bit further north too!

What's everyone's thoughts on the front reaching us?

I may be wrong but the snow over Gloucester looks like it's pivoting towards South Wales.

There's a fair bit of shower activity moving down the Irish Sea that's now starting to make contact with the coast. Crucially for us further south and east, as of now it's holding itself together and not disintegrating. As the low over us is so slack you can expect it to be a good few hours until the showers reach southeast Wales, if they do at all.
Still?! You really lucked out tonight.
Just stopped. Decent covering surprised to be honest because usually it would be higher up with the snow.
-
Still snowing here, think it's going to stop soon though.
-
More showers moving in behind this by the looks of it.
