Good spot, it's started to rain here now from these cells separate to the main band.

Completely passed through here without a drop of rain, all we have now is a drop in temperature, blue skies and an impressive view of a TCU to the north, huge but still not capped.

Not sure, thunder stopped here and it is brightening up despite previous satellite imagery and the rainfall radar putting my location right in the path of this band.

Tim - starting to encounter the same thing as you, I'm currently visiting relatives in Burnley. No rain yet but continual rumbles. Had a bit of rain around lunchtime which helped clean the car as the rain last night was laden with dust.

More on the Darwen tornado - It blew part of the roof off the Anchor Pub and caused damage to three properties...one person was injured.

Mondy - I think the tide gauge that recorded that was in an earthquake hit area. Just watching TV and all the eyes are on Hawaii, however looking at live tidal data from California, the fluctuations in height there are much more obvious. Be interesting to see how long it takes for the press to notice this one. Been working for a long time, 7 days a week on a hectic job in the middle east so back in the UK on a well earned break but now finding myself shouting at the TV. The press both UK and American, really have no idea what a tsunami is or what they are looking for. Also be interesting to see if some of the real-time tidal monitoring equipment my company have in the Malacca Straits at the moment picks anything up.

Just watched something a bit unbelievable on the local news. Some bloke is saying he was sat in his garden last week and the next thing he knows a 10cm sized bit of ice falls from the sky and onto his leg causing some nasty bruising. He is saying it must have fallen off an aircraft passing overhead. Possible or not?

Two from me - bit of both weather and non-weather really.

I'm doing an accredited RMetS course which is mainly Oceanography.

Had a rumble here, can't see the road apart from a mist above it which I'm assuming is where the rain is bouncing, very surreal.

Thundering here too, getting worse. Not been like this for ages, lightning really bright.

Occasional rumble here in Burnley Barry. Maybe you'll get something.

Went shopping earlier ~10ish - lots of fine rain which soaked me through Currently blue skies with cumulus development.
