  1. Mother reported Thunderstorm in Burnley 20 mins ago.
  2. dafodiling down is an understatement, I think I'm under some sort of cell, Plymouth airport reporting a CB and the radar return is small but very heavy. With this rain and the rain that passed over during the early hours its been 10mm so far.
  3. Thunder reported from a friend on Torbay.

    31 August Storm

    Nice clouds
  5. Any cumulus thats forming here is starting to look convective, apart from that, skies are clear and feels warm. As for the temp, my thermometer insists its 59C. Still don't know what's up with it.
  6. Try the new thread thats just been started for general chat about todays storms, this is more for reports so the site can collate them for archival use
  7. Welcome to the site, your first post was just right. Nothing else here now, all eyes on Scotland now for tonight.
  8. In the past hour, I've had an amazing storm with one close strike and torrential rain. All gone quiet now.
  9. Looking at the forecasts on nw-extra for abroad. Are the times in GMT? Does that mean the UK Time's are GMT? Also, the rainfall rate, is that per hour, and for which hour would that be with the forecast being for every 3 hours.
  10. 1 flash last night. Then out of nowhere, at 10 this morning, lightning then thunder followed by another one. That's it.
  11. I tend to ramble on about nothing so I was hoping that some of the ramble was of some use. I'm glad it was.
  12. Just making sure that my comments on the previous page weren't a load of crap. Please let me know if they were.
  13. I think we do need more dedicated time for the weather and countryfile has been the weekly home for detailed forecasts for quite a while and it should remain that way. We need forecasts which can relay lots of information graphically, without time restraints. That way we get forecasts that aren't rushed and forecasts which the team down in London find easier to do. As time goes on, the graphics should be taken advantage off. Getting underneath the clouds in parts of the country to show thunderstorm strikes from a side on view over a part of the country. Even projected tornadoes/waterspouts. The severity which can be seen by the thickness of strikes and the amount of strikes. Also, maritime forecasts should be brought into some sort of forecast be it early in the morning. While tide graphics should only be used for this part of the forecast, showing waves, and the severity of these along with beaufort scale numbers and descriptions for parts of the country. On local forecasts even, here we could zoom into Blackpool and show a tide run for the next 24 hours showing the tide coming in and out. Instead of people having to rely on tide forecasts from paid sources, information on television from some of the excellent tide and sea resources on the bbc weather website, along with the other things like gardening in some indepth forecast would be using the technology you have in an impressive way. You could even predict the clouds that people will see, how impressive it would be to show CB's developing as they move across parts of the country. The biggest annoyance I have is the local weather maps on the website, I click on north west, and there are no symbols which represent me. There is more information for Cumbria, Scotland, Yorkshire and the North East. The maps are too far zoomed out, not giving a detailed forecast.
  14. Looks like it could be it for today so to sum up. Good convective development in the afternoon followed by a brief storm, after the sun re-appearing and providing more heat a longer storm cropped up.
  15. Thundering here, some lightning, will give a fuller report once its all passed over.
  16. Max of 27 today, currently 21 and getting cloudy.
  17. Rain is one word which springs to mind today. Cold is another. Max of 10.5C
  18. You should get something pretty soon then.
