Is that what the met-office warnings are..i just seen them though never really took much interest.
-
Im sure i just heard thunder..thundersnow
-
Hammering it down here again..our road has went from being quite clear to covered again in the space of about 5 mins , cars are struggling to get up it.
-
Getting a pasting here atm..big thick flakes for the last half hour or more and still coming down heavy.
-
Big snow shower just about to hit here by the looks of the radar
-
Got kinda wet yukky stuff here atm..but its big flakes , not lying or anything yet..plenty of showers coming into the west crossing the central belt.
-
about 10mins ago it got as dark as night here in South Lanarkshire with thunder lightning and hail stones brilliant
Good wasnt it..shame the lightning didnt last longer though...whole heap of heavy showers sitting to the NW so hopefully there will be more
-
Building collapsed in NE just caught it in border news not sure exactly where. Large structure with many cars crushed
Jeeez..that dont sound good..hope everyone is ok.

Nope, seems accurate. http://www.xcweather.co.uk/
Hmmmm..cheers Backtrack , probably just seems more than that then..its mental out there, i fear for them 3 silver-birch trees out my back. :/

According to my local weather station the highest gust so far is 30.5mph .. dont think thats right somehow..could try doubling that then some.
-
had thunder and lightning last night that was not even forecast so expect the worst and hope for the best
yes i think it will be as its predicted path is the central belt of Scotland Glasgow and Edinburgh likely taking the worst of any damage or disruption
Yeah that was quite good about 5am this morning some good bright flashes and loud thunder..i seen Estofex had us under a level 1 but i wasnt expecting anything tbh..so it was a nice surprise.
Anyways back to Katia..i must say im a little scared of this storm system..i do love extreme weather..but this is different altogether,

Anyone know whats happend to the met-office invent predicted rainfall radar..they seem to have moved/binned it ? from their site.
-
It's looking like a lively one, seems I may have missed out gale potential for the South though.
Personally, I don't think that will materialize. If it does it will be very nasty indeed. You would be looking at a sustained wind speed of 60mph. I think we should focus on Tuesday though, as it's more the amount of rain that warrants the warning rather than the wind. Friday is FI as far as I am concerned.
I hope not lol..my back fence is already hanging off from the last storm..still waiting on it getting fixed...thats the closest ive seen the isobars for a long time. :/

Just heard more thunder here...hmmm going out to investigate..
-
STILL dry here. Showers keep forming in the wrong places all around us and not here
Yeah we just got caught with the Eastern edge of that storm..seems to have moved it way move towards Glasgow city centre and Paisley , Kilmarnock kinda way.
Still 15 mins of thunder and some good flashes of lightning from it..im happy.

THUNDERSTORM HERE !!!! some intense lightning and loud thunder

I put it in the other thread. I was walking dogs at half 9 last night and I saw thw most amazing intercloud (as I was told it was) lightning display. There was something near Glasgow at the time apparently. Some of th flashes in that cloud was absolutely amazing
Darn it..cheers John never seen or heard a thing here..if id known there was something in the area i would have been out for a walk myself.
-
Anything like that lightning display last night would be amazing
Did i miss summat ? im not that far from you .. i know there was thunder in Kirtintilloch yesterday..but was this night time ?
-
Have a question for you guys...slightly OT but not really.
When using the nowcast lightning detector i notice there are say..3 strikes per min and 2 noises per min..
http://www.nowcast.co.uk/lightning/
My question is what is a 'noise' ? per minute..
Cheers for any replies.

Alex Deakin on last nights weather.."then we look to the west to see the next batch of thunderstorms move in".."so those places that missed them today (as in tuesday) will get them on wednesday"...
So that will be the whole of the UK due a thunderstorm tomorrow then ??
-
Cracking storm in Paris just now..just seen some amazing lightning there.
-
I haven't actually seen the paper myself but is it true the Sun newspaper forecasted 'vicious' thunderstorms for the UK today/tomorrow/thursday?

No thunder here but this is a pretty prolonged shower (been going for about an hour and no real sign that it will let up)
I see that on the radar..its wierd because if you look at the raintoday radar it seems to be 'ballooning' its way west..think were just about to get hit here as well.
