1. Just utter garbage in the UK this year for storms innit..and has been here for the last 3-4 years apart from the odd flash and rumble which wouldnt count as a 'storm' IMO.

Just came back from Paris on Sunday..and had 4 storms over there..3 within about 2 hours of each other.

First one was Monday morning..was awoken at 8am to the lovely sound of loud thunder in the distance..ran to the window opened it and seen the pitch black sky in the distance..rolling over towards us..lots of IC'sa few good CG's and lasted about 20 mins..with the thunder constantly rolling about the hills.

Wednesday was 'THE' day of storms..went into Paris within about 15 mins day turned to night..we need shelter and we need it NOW !!! got under cover and the heavens opened..never seen rain this heavy in my life really..again..lots of IC's but it was behind us but could hear the thunder booming right over us.

Another 2 storms after that..same scenario on the last one was really close..with loads of visible CG's instant cracks of thunder..i was in my element.

Then have to come back here with the depressing rain rain rain..and nothing much else.

  2. There is a risk of non-severe thunderstorms tomorrow late afternoon and into the evening across that region of France. High temperatures and increasing moisture will and steep lapse rates will generate moderate CAPE through the day, with trough distubance triggering thunderstorms during the period. Main threat looks to be excessive precipitation given the amount of moisture and energy available, with perhaps a risk of decent sized hail and strong convective wind gusts.

Okay..thanks for the reply weather..it would be good to see 'something' at least as the last 'proper storm' was May 2006..

what a night that was) since then apart from the odd rumble absolutley zilch.

Fed up with the lack of storms here even when all the ingredients are right..heat humidity..etc (i know a load of other factors come into play) but you can always be sure to put your house on it nothing will happen.

  3. Hi guys..sorry if this is the wrong place to post this...but im off to France..about 1hr outside Paris..10 mins or so from Euro-Disney tommorow about 4pm arrive there about 6pm (local time) just wondering the chances of seeing a good storm.

Ive to interpret the charts etc and have no clue..and having looked through several forecasts they all seem to contradict each other.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

  4. Looks like 'last chance saloon' for my area for today/last night/yesterday had sod all..apart from grey skies all day.

Please tell me that shower/cell moving over Greenock towards Clydebank and Glasgow area is going to become electrified.

    Seriously doubt it though. :nonono:

Okay..thanks didnt expect it would..just like i didnt expect i would get a reply on my post...Oh wait !!!

  6. Sorry dunno if this has been mentioned already.

Heavy SnowFri 25 DecThere is a moderate risk of severe weather affecting parts of Central and Western Scotland on Friday evening and night.

Snow spreading from the southwest during the evening is likely to give falls of up to 10cm in places.

Issued at: 1027 Thu 24 Dec

    Interesting... :)

  7. Was just heading to bed there and thought I would have a wee look at the precipitation charts stunning:O if that snow makes its way down here and brings another 5-7cm theres going to be some seriously impressive falls down here

Infact I am going for 30cm plus in certain regions with altitude 200m+ and I think I could have 20-25cm easily will take pictures in morning sensational stuff Cheers

    Scott

    also -8 here

Yeah..i was just off to bed myself then and thought id have a quick gander at the charts.

I like the look of the precip the way its pivoting round on sat24..looks as though it could come this far south as well.

Good few hours away though yet.

  8. Anyway, as I was saying, it's snowing heavily here, accumulating very quickly with more to come, and 'Hiya''s house will have snow on it by now.drinks.gif

Err, what happened to Xscape??yahoo.gifyahoo.gif

    LOL..ye know what i meant.

Just had a look on the radar and there seems to be quite a few showers feeding in from the west coast..moving towards the central belt.

Could be a fun day. :drinks:

  9. I don't want to be a killjoy but i'll be surprised if it falls as snow for a start. The current temps in Glasgow are around 4c and dew point of 2c. It will not snow if it's that temperature when it hits you. That NetWeather precip type radar is not based on actual conditions or what is actually falling from the sky... It's based on what the charts say SHOULD be falling. It's not that accurate though.

Aye..i was just about to post the same myself..getting a bit worried as the temp is 3c and rising.

Spose ill find out in the next hour or so as it has clouded over really quickly.

  10. Must say i was very surprised earlier..fell asleep on the couch..woke up with the wean coming in from school.

Shes like..have ye seen the snow ?? looked out and theres a proper covering so it must have been belting it down earlier.

Still snowing just now and the sky looks all that pink way when there is more snow coming.
