  1. I take it all the stuff in Southern Ireland at the moment is anaprop ? Heavy thundery showers forecast for here later..but i cant see where that would come from as all the stuff is moving NE to SE .
  2. Just had another thunderstorm here about 5.15pm lasted about 45 mins..infrequent thunder/lightning but managed to catch about 5 or 6 good flashes with loud thunder.
  3. Just went out for a walk with my lassie..as the storm moved away it seemed to intensify..we headed towards the top of a hill where we would get a good view. Walking up....right in front of us...MASSIVE CG with ear shattering thunder 3 seconds after it..was pretty scary TBH being so close. We got to the top of the hill but couldnt see any more lightning..it was worth it though just to see that strike.
  4. Just had that one here Ross...although not a direct hit it was close enough..got 4 rumbles and 3 good flashes of lightning from it..one directly above my house with the explosion of thunder straight after it. Moved away now though.
  5. Must be the shower thats just passed through here..big massive rain drops..very ocassional hail mixed in..its moved away towards the Glasgow area now. Think it was slightly electrical before it arrived here then kinda died down just as it got here...typical really.
  6. Yeah..the usual 'non-event' for me today again..so near yet so far..a rumble of thunder woulda sufficed..anything !! (and yes i am greetin). Ach well the wait goes on...6 years 1 month and counting..
  7. Nice one guys..missed it by a matter of a few miles..just my luck really.. My brother phoned me as he got off the train at Wishaw and said he could see the cell dropping CG's every minute or so..just had to come a wee bit further SW and i woulda got it.
  8. Yeah sorry lol..i did mean here (Glasgow) to the continent and not the 30 odd miles from Dover-Calais.
  9. Lol..true..ye know its amazing so it is there is only a few hundred miles that seperate the UK from the Continent and yet there it seems to be the perfect breeding ground for storms. We havent had a storm here since May 2006 yet we were in Paris last year for a week and seen 6 seperate storms..4 in the one day..where's the justice in that...
  10. Thanks for that explanation Harry..like i says im picking up bits and pieces as i go along..every little helps.
  11. I notice Estofex have a wee circle right over central Scotland today and Net-Weather have given us a 51% chance of a storm in the afternoon. But surely with pressure so high and not a cloud in the sky hardly this seems unlikely ? or do they know something i dont know as im just a pure amateur just learning as i go along from the guys on here.
  12. Same here Stu..im thinking this is one of the worst places to be for storms (5 years ago we had our last one) 3 days of a 'plume' and a day of widespread thunderstorms..and we still cant catch a single rumble. Not that im greetin or nothin..well spose i am a wee bit..but it just seems let down after let down here.. Our next 'chance' is Thursday and Friday according to BBC Weather..we shall see...
  13. Just had a small cell pass through here..produced some very heavy rain..but thats all..the shower headed towards you looks more organised..good luck
  14. Certainly some big showers starting to grow here..its only a matter of time before we get hit with the first one of the day. Typical though the meto radar is stuck at 11.30am and the nowcast lightning detector is stuck at 10.22am.
  15. http://www.estofex.org/ I think they must have heard you Looking good for me today..hopefully see my first storm of the year..if i cant get 1 single rumble out of a 'plume' event id be as well writing it off as a loss...
  16. My mate just texted me .. was out the back having a ciggie..swears he seen lightning..i went out to check it out couldnt see anything but it does feel very still and 'thundery'
  17. Cheers Ross..hope they will track thier way NE..seem to be getting a lot of showers breaking out ahead of this main band..bit worried if the main band makes it here it will just stick around.
  18. http://www.meteorologica.info/lightning/lightning.jpg << This one Ross..its probably not that accurate..but its the one i always use..
  19. A couple of strikes being detected also in the Dumfries region also Ross ?
  20. Must say the Estofex forecast looks good for today and with the sun out and feeling warm and humid might bode well for my area later.. Im not getting my hopes up though as i thought i would see something last night at least and it came to nothing apart from a few bursts of quite heavy rain.
  21. Indeed..who could forget that one,one of the best displays of lightning ive ever seen in my life..heres hoping for a similar set up soon..surely 5 years without a decent storm we are due something ?
  22. I know we probably dont have much chance till later in the week..but the sky was (and still is) full of Altocumulus cloud...a sign of things to come i hope ?
  23. Another one to add to the live webcams. http://www.aminta.com/en/live_sorrento_webcam.php From Sorrento in Italy..seems a very thundery region seen some great night time lightning displays from it.
  24. Yes..i suspect you are spot on nothing happening AGAIN...a few scattered cumulus and a bit of cirrus nothing of any major significance..just dosent 'feel thundery' either. However i may be pleasently surprised later on although i doubt it..cant believe yesterdays storms were so near..yet so far. How pants has this summer been for storms..not 1 single rumble here..yet i went over to France for a week and seen 4 storms (3 within about 2 hours of each other). Moan over lol.
