Also I remember seeing this in the models at least a week away playing out exactly how this has done. Quite extraordinary for a few bits/bytes/some differential equations and fluid flow dynamics. (But no snow lol in Bristol)
No precipitation now, but been outside and it just feeeeels colder. I'll bet my bottom dollar that if we get any more ppn it will be snow. But will we get any?
As bristolwx said 4.3 in Filton and Dew Point 2.8C - heavy rain, though I'm wishfully thinking it looks like sleet. Hope for colder air after this and some snow showers. Hey bristolwx are you Martyn Hicks? If so pleased to meet you and thanks for a great weather site.
Seems like the cold front is quite well defined now behind the initial front. All falling as snow inland about 30 - 40 miles behind except for the extreme Western edge on West Wales coast
Same here Steve (Winterbourne - NE Bristol). Expecting a rainy start - hopefully turning to snow as front passes. The saving grace for us might be the extent of showers following behind which seems pretty good now.
I use the Filton (north Bristol) weather station here: http://www.martynhicks.co.uk/weather/data.php?page=live Currently 3.8C and dew point 1.9 Its gone up a degree in the last couple of hours. Not surprising if there is a warm sector in front. Hoping for a rain to snow event. Temps should drop rapidly as the front passes. Looks like some decent ppn extending behind the front so could get lucky?
