Whaaaat???? OK so the flakes are finer here for now, but there's still plenty coming down???
We should see snow for the next couple of hours I would have thought.
I would certainly second that! Been fantastic reading Steve's (amongst many other's) posts this winter. And the snow is getting heavier here in Winterbourne (NE of Bristol)
Put it this way, on a macro-scale the low is progged to move NE. However, on a micro-scale the low is wrapping this ppn around itself anticlockwise towards the NNW. At the scale of the radar I think Bristol is in for a good shout and the like of farmer and matt1234456678 are just trolling.
Nice of Steve Murr to pop his head in and give the Bristol posse a lift! Thanks for the Netweather closeup and also thanks to Bristolblizzard. That is gonna keep me out of bed lol! Just hope we can keep the ppn as snow and that it doesn't all wash away in the rain at 9:00am. Thanks for all the links, maps and radar pics, much appreciated.
Just got back from the pub (run ). Had a dusting here in Winterbourne. Dissapointed to see all the potential ppn very much to the East. Is that stuff swinging slightly West to hit us in a couple of hours? To my eye its slightly nudging west and we might catch the western (heaviest) edge. Please tell me this is correct?? My MO radar has gone blank. Meteo showing slight move west? Stuff still building out of France behind it, though.
From Met Office: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/uk_...ings.html?day=2 Heavy Snow Valid From: 0100 Thu 5 Valid To 1500 Thu 5 60% confident risk of disruption There is a high risk of a severe weather event affecting parts of the Midlands, the West Country and southern and eastern Wales during Thursday. Very nice post post from BBC's Ian Ferguson at "another" weather forum this morning. It looks pretty hopeful. The snow zone very much like TEITS white box in the output thread, except more on a SW-NE tilt. (Not so much a horizontal rectangle as TEITS's lol)
Yes - Two big lumps coming out of NW France. Just had heavy hail here - given a new bit of whiteness to the ground. I'd wouldn't be surprised if that stuff later was just rain though. We'll see in the morning.
You must be right on the western edge. I suppose I'm a couple of miles east of you??
Nice proper snow now but looks too wet out there to stick. Still.. makes the radar watch worthwhile to get even a small payoff
As I typed that it stopped lol. Oh well off to bed!
Large area of PPN just breaking away from Brest, but 'm not waiting up for that lol. A dusting by morning would be nice, but milder air increasingly pushing in with the stuff from the south now, I fear.
Surely one if not two of those will hit Bristol if they keep their intensity. Just hope it doesn't fizzle. Good luck guys. Gonna watch a film and hope to come back to see a few flakes before bed. (I know I'll be checking the radar ever 15 mins though - lol, its pathetic )
