    Cyclonic or Anticyclonic is as far as i understand.. thing is I've never seen a forecaster on TV mention 'heights' hence my confusion with the word - especially after searching this forum and internet.  How are us mere mortals suppose to understand terminology if only a few in the same room the know what they mean?

    My brother in law is a theoretical particle physicist and has to speak publicly (what they call 'colloquials' or presentations) to explain, in the simplest terms, what he is doing so as to educate everyone present to further science research - alas I still don't understand the 'Lattice theory' but we try and we do have fun.

    I have a family member with Parkinson so appreciate you are 'all there' in mind and everything, your humour will never go mate.

    Ok since it's quiet and I've been sitting on this question for years..

    A lot of knowledgable folk on here talk about "heights" and "low heights" ... is this a very high pressure system and lower high pressure system or are the low heights a low pressure system?

    Please, in simple terms put me out of my misery - Thanks in advance

    Unfortunately it won’t happen that way.

    Reverse psychology fingers firmly crossed now. Cmon models - prove me wrong….

    Looked up GLAAM and it's a village and a municipal district of Hohenroda in Hersfeld-Rotenburg district in eastern Hesse, Germany 

    While I enjoy reading the posts and learning here on Netweather TV sometimes the abbreviations et al' (and all) are difficult to learn - Is there a section for meanings I missed?  Sorry mods.. but even after all these years i still can't find it (-:

    Great post Catacol BTW (by the way)   Looking forward to the influence of some strat warming late 2021 to take effect in the atmosphere above my 'neck of the woods' IMBY 

     

    Doh ! (oh silly me) i didn't realise that if one places (hovers) the mouse pointer over the said abbreviation for meteorological terms... it up pops up it's meaning <faceslap and palm> emoticon - Carry on (-:

    Certainly exciting to see all the various outputs running up to Christmas, can't remember in all these years being so fascinated at the possibilities for the next few days. It's the first year I haven't put a bet on White Christmas - silly me as it looks like I might have made up for all the past bets.

    hi Cookie, I was going to suggest in the meantime try 'Raintoday' which works on iphone but when I went to find details for you it seems that is going to be discontinued soon.  Shame as it is (presently) what i rely on for free on the google phone. Good luck (-;

    Back to GFS 18z that is a locked in cold pattern. No easy way out of it. Just one run, but significant consistency from GFS about 8 runs now, prior we had major fluctuations from one run to the next. I do sit up when GFS is so consistent and bullish, more so when we have blocking sign to the NW.

    I for one (having just come out of hibernation) am loving the pin the 'tail on the donkey' NetWeather seasonal banter this year, Cold is coming and the will it wont it gfs /ukmo/ arpege et' al certainly excites.

    It's not like we're going anywhere for a while yet - so very enjoyable
