Seen an orange sun here... and a few manipulated orange landscapes too
Point a camera at the sun and it underexposes everything around it - Ophelia or not (-:

There's something deeply foreboding about watching the terminator cross over Irma as day breaks.

Thank you. It puts the scale of these hurricanes into perspective

There was three scenarios for Irma ..turns north before Florida, hits Florida or ends up the Gulf. I would be more inclined to think the Gulf option may play out, just an opinion.
Taking into account of the super computers (et al') analysis over the last two weeks i think it quite unlikely that Irma is going to hang left into the gulf of Mexico - but hey you called it first (-;

I love that you can basically make out the hadley cell model in operation on that loop, right with the mid-latitude cell, even if the polar cell is somewhat obscured by static data. Nice little image.

'tis times like today that the Netweather forum allows the true colours of reality to share the best links worldwide
ooohtube et al' sensationalizes with miss-information from nutters...
This is serious for everyone in irma's path.
As a weather fanatic I wouldn't want to be there - hope everyone gets the help they need after this

from smaller than the size of Wales to larger than Ireland in a matter of a few hours... that's quite a lot of energy there
the lightning part seems to be heading NE but i think there'll be a few surprises if this gets up so high and has to fall/convect somewhere
Exciting (-:

Was fun , but compared to the Thames streamer 03 , thunder snow 04 , Feb 1st 09 , Dec 1st & 19th 2010 , Jan 13 was a bit like hunting down the side of sofa looking for loose change.
im lucky to of been old enough to remember '78 , the classic 80's winter and 91
oh yes definitely remember thundersnow 2004 et al' .. but you gotta count your blessings these days (-:
something early early 70's was cool too...

In old money they used to say that one inch of rain = one foot of snow, so I guess the conversion on 8.4mm would be about 10cm? :-D
"some say"... 1mm rain equals 1cm of the fluffy white cold stuff (-:
Looks like snow will be happening here in 20 mins if the temps and DP keeps noze diving the way it they this last hour:

going to stand on doorstep with mulled wine to watch the lampost

Is there a 192 club anywhere on this forum?
It's just that Christmas falls in t192hrs and over the years being here I've found that around 192hrs the models start to get interesting and dare I say possibly near the outcome regarding t0z - even the pub run
