Quite a heavy shower currently, but the ground has warmed up today so barely settling.
-
yeah the direct sun today is denting it even up here, but in the shade, its still very deep, especialy on the grass etc
looks like another dry week coming up and with sunny days and temps around 7c i think were gradualy going to see the snow disappearing
sad realy as there is no snow mentioned, i think we're just going to see this cold spell get mixed out gradualy without a snowy breakdown which is a shame as that will not do it justice i think!
Have we already seen the last snowfall of this winter? im starting to think yes
Last snowfall? Nope! Had a light shower this afternoon. I know what you mean, though anything is possible yet, including widespread heavy falls. Not a prediction, but a possibility.

Id love to live at 250m, the highest part of the Yorkshire wolds (243m) is a 15 minute drive from my house and I cant remember the amount of times its snowed up there when its rained down here. There are a few villages in the wolds 150-200 metres up I have my eye on
Certainly interesting in the Wolds, at least as good for snow as it was living in Penistone which was 150m higher than here. (Apart from last week).
If you do move, choose carefully. We're 10 miles from the coast and I wouldn't want to be any nearer, even so the coastal effect does kick in when you least want it to. However, when there's a Northerly about, you wouldn't want to be much further inland as you'll often miss out. There's a road 2 miles west of here that the snow refuses to cross with the wind in the right direction and you can predict to within a few feet where the snowline will be.
It's also good for thunderstorms and warmth in summer as well and that's the downside with some upland locations, so all in all a great location, especially so for a low level one.
Just had a light snow shower out of nowhere.
-
It seems to have snowed lightly/moderately for much of the night, but hardly more than a light covering anywhere on the way in to York. Nothing settling in York and outskirts.
-
Frequent overnight snow showers and a gusty wind has left us with drifts to match anything on the Pennines.
I am of course talking from an ant's perspective.
-
Adam please. It's March, nearly April for heaven's sake.
You have snow, we don't and didn't when you got a bucket load.
Just to annoy you intensely, it's a damn sight colder here than Leeds and snowing.
Some of us on here go together earlier to get a message to you.

Actually check the radar mate it's definitely changing in the last half hour.
Pigs falling from the sky!!!! You're not at Hillsborough Sheffield at are you?
And this from the PIT, can't even spell mate.
Light flurries here for the last few hours.

Wind has been gusting to almost 60 mph on top of the hill here. If we'd had any snow it would have blown to Penistone by now.
-
The western part of the band is staying put (roughly) but the eastern part if now moving faster and is curving around. If it continues moving in this direction it will hit here and most of N Lincs.
The wind seems to be dying down a tad too.
No I don't think so. Think it will head NW then take more of a Westerly direction before moving South again. Possibly affect areas South of the Humber in towards South Yorkshire maybe.

Some great pics and videos everyone.
You'll never believe what I've just seen.......
I would have believed it, until I read your location. Penistone, Leeds, Sheffield, maybe!

Just been for a quick drive to see where the snow's gone!
Had to drive 10 miles west before there's a dusting. Top of Garrowby Hill on the Wolds there's probably less than 2cm, but even so, some of the drifts are approaching 2 feet.
Went across to Settrington Beacon and apart from Garrowby you can't see any, right across the Vale of Pickering to the lower slopes of the North York Moors, nor looking west towards York. Above that you can't see because of the haze, but there was snow cover there before.
Machu, have you seen those photos of the Main Street in Penistone March 1933? I've got some in a book somewhere, they're awesome - go take some more!
-
Anyway Mr Murr we've had 28 days of MO snow cover, 5 days when it was close, another half dozen at least with temporary falls, so to miss out today is no problem.
(B*ll*cks, I'm gutted).
And when the next Northerly buries us and the east coast we'll have smug smiles again.
-
It looked as though my area was going to miss out completely last night, but a nice covering this morning and it's still snowing lightly.
Looking at the radar I think this must be the only area in Yorks and Lincs that's barely seen a flake. And I can count them on one finger.
-
Is the old cattle market still there?
Tesco moved in and they sell beef, pork, lamb and horse.
-
i gots to move to penistone
I moved from Penistone about the same time that Machu moved in. Spooky!
Used to love the winters there, but they're great here as well, it's just that when it snows here it doesn't there and vice versa.
Still waiting for the first snowflake today, mind you, we've had 2 lots earlier in the week.
-
Well it looks like it's going to stay bone dry here. Ironic really considering where the cold is coming from.
Mustn't grumble though as we've done really well this winter/spring.
-
So much for the move North & East. Have driven from home to York and the whole area under precipitation according to the radar and not just the light echoes, but not a flake!!!!
Plenty of vehicles heading east with the fronts plastered in frozen pinky snow. At least somewhere has some salt down.

Rain Alarm is handy as it notifies you when somethings nearby so particularly useful for showers, but quality not great. UK weather is OK as you can go back and forwards as well, as does the Met Office app, which isn't as user friendly.
If you want to check the models, there's Meteociel, but my favourite is Meteo Models as you can zoom in. Have got a Note II which is great for weather watching.

Had very light persistent snow all morning followed by brief heavy showers of fine graupel this afternoon giving temporary dustings. But once the sun went down it's started to accumulate a bit, so nice and white out there, with some more to come.
Not looking forward to the upcoming weather as I have to drive to Brighton Friday and back Saturday. Hopefully I'll get stranded somewhere!

Very modest height making a difference here. Slushy cover now, but even in the dark a close hill is much whiter and it's only 30m higher. Should be a decent cover on top of the Wolds now.
-
All snow now, but struggled to get there. Very wet out there but just starting to settle on grass and cars, but can't see us having a cover in the morning at this rate.
As I said, you guys further west and higher up should do well.
-
I'm sure you guys in the West will do well tonight.
Started as light rain here, but some heavier stuff has arrived and turning more to snow by the minute. Will update later.
70m amsl here and 10 miles from the coast.
-
we got sleet here,no snow yet
Are you still in Scarborough? A few showers in the area now, but fading before they get to me.
-
Sleet at home this morning and a bit of slushy snow over about 200m on top of the Wolds. Ironically now the precipitation is moving away the temp is dropping back.
