Well that's pretty much us done for this snowless winter. Good luck to those on cotswolds though you might get lucky.

We have sleet and hail at around 600ft in and around shepton mallet.
Maybe a chance of seeing something later.

Another light dusting of snow here this morning. Wasn't expecting it to settle. Melting fast now though.

No idea how cold it got here last night but it's properly frosty Stepped out onto the patio, nearly went flying, it's sheet ice. Hubby just came home hobbling and bleeding, he's a cyclist, goes out with a group every Saturday morning, he got maybe 500 yards down the road before the bike went out from underneath him - cycling abandoned today. The lanes round here have been very wet, lots of run off from the fields which is all now frozen solid, nothing is gritted around these parts until you get to the main roads which are miles away. Took this a few minutes ago, frost on the car bonnet. Very pretty
I nearly came off the road driving through Oakhil this morning as i lost control but managed to save it just in time. Roads were terrible this morning. I did think to myself surely after such a mild winter they could push the boat out regarding the gritting of roads as it seemed like major b roads were frozen also.
Anyway nice to see a frost but one frost does not make a winter..

The rain never stops here. Some heavy showers on a Bristol Channel streamer so far this morning.
122mm in the last 10 days!
It is truly awful first third of winter.
Autumn is now 6 months instead of the usual 3 at winters expense

Glimmer of hope for those with a little elevation Saturday....
More runs needed though.

This ‘dry spell’ never began here. There’s been rain on at least a weekly occurrence.
Not rained here properly since the winter. Grass is browning off and ground is parched. Hope Friday finally brings our first rain from this 'unsettled' week
-
Will I ever see any proper rain!?
Garden is desperate for some rain, it is bone dry!
never had these issues living on Mendip everything just fizzles out.

Gavs weather latest outlook paints a pretty grim outlook if you want cold, too!
Im still holding onto winter with the last of my snow sat around edges of garden but with heavy rain it will only be the snow plough piles left soon
-
3c now and the thaw is starting on house and trees etc.
Will take a few days I expect for it to clear properly.

That's mad, traffic chaos still. Apart from a few spots in the garden where the sun doesn't reach at this time of year the snow is all but vanished.
Your not that far if you have a day off drive to the eastern side of the Mendips and even the shepton mallet area lower down, no thaw at all yesterday and snow is still like powder. Many lanes just not passable without 4 by 4.Im driving around with a shovel inside car for when I get stuck each time.

It is a real shame that milder weather is moving in from Sunday it could have been a great start to a cold spell with close to a foot of snow on ground. After a winter of disappointment this one snow event has saved it from being a terrible winter.

Turning to wet snow in Shepton mallet. May e more interest on Mendip than I expected but it isn't heavy.
