  1. Sadly, I'm now resigned to the fact that this will be a non event for me.
  2. Not quite.... But at least light snow is falling now and not sleet, and the NW radar has now gone pink (snow) for the first time,
  3. Well, considering what you guys got, I class 1cm as no snow!! And that's only on the cars really. It's trying it hardest to snow but it's still sleety. Hopefully as the ppn starts to move south it will bring the cold air and at last we may some.
  4. Right, after my first disappointed look out of the window I have looked at the facts and gained a bit of perspective. Looks from the Meto radar that the movement north stopped at about 5am and the northern edge of the ppn is starting to move back south. Coupled with larger areas of precip moving in from the Channel, hopefully we should have happen what was forecast, albeit slightly later. Best things come to those that wait??!!??
  5. Words fail me.....    I cannot believe what has happened only 10 miles away. 1 cm of poor slush here so far. I know it was forecast to fall most of the day as well, but it just isn't happening as forecast last night!
  6. That'll explain it. Just watching the BBC24 weather. The snow definately isn't going to go as far east tomorrow as forecast a few hours ago. That could explain way the ppn is still so far north and west. It looked like it could linger along the south coast (from about East Devon eastwards) for quite a long time tomorrow morning. For once I'll take the BBC's view on this
  7. Oh chuffing hell. The temp here has been 0.8c for the last 3.5 hours and now it's just gone up a little!!!!!! The dewpoint has risen as well!!!!
  8. Got heavy rainy sleety stuff now. Amazing that South Petherton is so close and much lower and is getting snow. And another thing. The traffic camera we were looking at earlier: http://www.bbc.co.uk/somerset/webcams/came...on=bbc_new_west Looks like there isn't any traffic coming south down the M5 - hardly any tyre tracks!!
  9. Hmmm, is that heavy snow now? There isn't anything showing on the radar!
  10. I know, doesn't bare thinking about. It better do as forecast othwise my promises of decent snow tonight might look a bit stupid.
  11. Ah, that hill! I thought it was closer to Exeter than that. Last February I went to the Go Ape place (rope ladders, zip slides etc) that's in the forest on the other side of the A38 to the racecouse. As we drove through Exeter there was a bit of drizzle and then as we drove up the 'that' hill it turned to snow which stayed falling until we left, albeit lightly, until we drove back down, and then it turned back to rain.
  12. Well, the only good thing I have to report is that the sleet and snow that left a dusting about 2 hours ago has melted at all so it should give a good base for hopefully the snow we should see later.... maybe.....
  13. That's what I'm worried about. When you look at the BBC24 weather they're showing a huge amount of ppn in the English Channel during the night. Is what is falling in Devon, Wales and NW Somerset really going to get pushed back SE to the channel in the next 3 hrs?!?
  14. On the Precip Type NW radar I've been in the green (sleet) all night but the red (snow) has just started to get closer. That's got to be a good sign. My temp has been stuck at 0.8c for 2 hours now though!
  15. I would say from the direction it's pointing that the traffic coming out of Taunton is not being allowed onto the M5. EDIT: Scratch that, yes they are. It looked like a gritter/snowplough just went up the slip road though.
  16. Well, that's my lot for now (not that it was much) Am I going to wait up to see the snow arrive as the systems moves East?
  17. Currently 0.8c and dewpoint -0.5c. Only dropping very slowly. Oh, and back to snow. Huge flakes.
  18. Arrggghhhh!! And back to sleet. Still amazing how much snow fell in only about 15 minutes though. I know it will happen....
  19. At last, proper SNOW!! I didn't bother with sleet reports as it was depressing me, as well as reading that Ilminster, only about 10 miles East, has 2" already. EDIT: and it's immediately pitching on very wet hard surfaces!
  20. As soon as the front coming down from the north hits it it will start to push it east. The point that they meet should hopefully be right across the SW.
  21. I think this could well be the case. Have had a good look at all the forecasts and it does look as if we could be looking at snow further west than Dartmoor. How far north this extends will be a case of nowcasting, though I'd be surprised if it got much further north than the Bristol Channel/Bristol in our region. I can see I'm gonna annoy the mrs by radar/lamp post watching all evening
  22. Just back from actually doing some work, and read that! Nothing is going to beat Monday night but some more would be great. Now, the BBC are usually my last resort for a forecast (well, after Sky and ITV) so I think I'll have to go and do some investigation for myself
  23. Looks like it all fell from the Mendips Northwards. Only about 30 miles N of me. So close Only had a very brief shower yesterday evening that left the slightest dusting on dry surfaces. Hoping for something from the returning front tonight but that looks like it will only be for Dorset/Hampshire Eastwards. It's so frustrating!
