Storms just grazed past the Malverns. Don't think any strike was closer than a mile away. Insane amount of lightning, flash after flash illuminated the sky to the north and east of here. Pity our position on the west side of the hill obscured what must have been an amazing view to the East! We did get some torrential rain for a short period. Glad some of you had such amazing shows.
I think the Malvern Hills are a geographical feature storms like to go around rather than right over, or at least that's been my experience having lived here for 8 years. Last time there was an amazing storm, again it was just to our north and east. Why Shropshire misses out I've no idea, though, it's turned into the Bermuda Triangle for storms.

Woken up by thunder, lightning and torrential rain. Appears to have eased off, so short and sharp here on the Malverns.

The wind is howling so much I can't sleep. Wonder if there will be fence panels missing in the morning, it really is roaring here. Really longing for some milder Spring weather.
Edit: And one panel's ripped away. Sigh.

snowing in West Malvern - just light stuff.
-
1.6oC here currently, dewpoint of -1.6oC. Very still out. Frost this morning.
-
Awoke to a dusting of snow! Was pleasantly surprised as I hadn't expected anything. Temp 1.7oC. Dew -1.2oC.
-
Still have some lying snow here but it's in the process of a slow melt. Occasional snow showers but they're becoming more sleety.
-
Still coming down here!

Heavy snow here in Malvern! At last! My lamp post is happy. Nice covering everywhere, looks like around 2cms at the mo .
-
Just wet, here. No snow at all. This winter's been pretty poor for Malvern, I have to say.
-
Gah got up to see whether it was snowing but it's raining and the dusting we had earlier has been washed away! Nooooo!
-
One of those nights when I don't want to have to sleep! Currently 1.5oC here and fingers crossed for a dumping of snow later on.
-
Whoohoo just had a snow shower and have actual lying snow! Temp 1.7oC, dewpoint -1.0oC.

Nothing overnight but light snow falling now. We've a dusting over cold surfaces but it's not sticking on the road. Temp 2.0oC, dewpoint -0.6oC. Cold wind but not as strong as yesterday.
-
Snow! At last, large flakes and settling. Temp 2.5oC

No show showers here - had one much earlier but nothing since then. Temp is 4.4oC, dew 0.7oC. I guess the random nature of showers means some of us will get lucky and others won't.

From rain an hour ago straight to snow! Just had a snow shower here, even though it's around 5oC. Blowing a gale, too.

Average depth is 13.5cm now with light snow still falling. Thick fog since 2030 yesterday evening and the temp' according to the Davis on the roof mast, is -0.2c.
Party at TM's tonight, folks! Bring a sled!
Still cloaked in hill fog here, rain's stopped now. 3.7oC currently.

Rain in Malvern, might be an occasional sleety bit. Horrid day. Sitting in hill fog right now. Temp 4.0oC. Bleh.
-
Very disappointing non-event, wet this morning, 3.3oC, any vestiges of snow we had (very little) are gone.
-
Totally disappointing so far in Malvern - Any light snow we've had has melted. It's 2.0oC. Perhaps we are just too far south.
-
Very fine snow falling here. Will take a long time for that to build up into anything!
-
Really surprised at this based on your elevation.....maybe just the wrong time of day or wrong side of the Airmass perhaps....?
Possibly. Am waiting on the next blob on the radar heading our way. Hope that'll be a bit nicer.

Better news from here now: it's pepped up just a little and is now back to pure snow, with medium-sized flakes. Still only light, but just beginning to settle on grass and the colder/drier parts of the road.
Luckier than we are! It started with light rain, grew sleety, then stopped. There's just a damp surface on the road and a few white granules sprinkled on paths and grass.

Line of very black clouds just reaching here from the West. Looks like thundery activity in them from the sferics.
