Very cold here in Malvern, currently -3.8oC.
AJ - as a member here who isn't up on all the models, etc, I enjoy reading what others post but have only limited understanding. I keep meaning to read the threads explaining it all when I get a few spare moments. Even so, I'd be scared to post anything model-related as I'm sure a bunch of people would jump in and disagree, and I'm not experienced enough to argue! So I hope I can continue to post any weather updates from my location, I promise I will try to figure out the models and other atmospheric stuff but I'm not as quick mentally as I used to be!

No snow here, but we do have snow grains precipitating out of the fog - first wintry precipitation in Evesham since December 2010
Ditto here in West Malvern, just some small grainy stuff.
-
Leaden grey skies in Malvern this morning - my least favourite type of weather. Currently -1.2oC, very misty, not a breath of wind.
-
A light dusting overnight on the Malverns. Awoke to pretty white outlines on branches. Temp was -0.3oC when I looked at around 6.30 am, it's since fallen slightly to -0.5oC now. No falling snow at the moment, just misty.
-
Temperatures have been holding steady at around 3C for several hours now. It's supposed to get down to freezing tonight and possibly below. I can't see that happening while we're under this very thick veil of cloud.
1.3oC in West Malvern, I doubt we'll go below freezing either.
-
This is my last picture of the day from higher up on the Malverns looking due west. You can see the mist rising, no sign of snow.
-
Alright anyone want to see what I can see from my upstairs window looking west?
Yep - not a lot. It's gotten even more misty.
Edit: meant to say, no you can't see the Welsh mountains at all, in fact, hardly anything!
-
You've got a better chance in Malvern thats for sure. However, we do need to be prepared for the fact that if it does reach any of us..it'll start as rain. You must have a good view out to Wales from your location (if I'm correct on where West Malvern is)?
You are now this thread's designated 'look out'!
ROFL! Yes we do get a spectacular view of the Welsh mountains from here when there's good visibility. Not today! I just had a walk on the Hill and walked around to the east side to overlook Great Malvern. Couldn't see it at all for the low-lying cloud obscuring it. Beautiful view, just a few higher hills standing out of the cloud like islands in a sea of mist. Right now the view due west is only as far as the next couple of hills in Herefordshire, it's so misty.
Edit: Actually looking at the radar it's beefing up towards Lands End, isn't it, rather than where we'd like it to be, further north of there.

In West Malvern we've got no precipitation of any kind as yet. Very murky-looking out to the west. Temperature rising slowly, now at 2.8oC. Basically got to sit and wait and see if that area of precipitation will reach this far.

Malvern has a yellow alert for snow on Monday 3am-12pm, so fingers crossed.
Shouldn't we be using reverse psychology on the weather? Let's all pray for BBQ weather next week, that ought to do it! B)

Will it, won't it??.....early morning 06z run shows some nice wintry weather in the not too distant future, with some potential for 'battleground' scenarios (which for most of us bring the biggest dumpings) tieing in quite nicely with the other model output...Still early doors, but it seems the synoptically the building blocks are falling into place..the trends for a switch to a colder, potentially snowy pattern have been quietly humming away for several days, now they're starting to to sing with increasing volume
Is that a definite maybe then? Honestly it's like a carrot held just out of reach! I hope we do get one decent dumping of snow before winter's gone, just for those who really want to see some. This year I'm not too bothered, but it's always magical to see the white stuff. So, how distant is distant? By the weekend?

Hello all Well no sign of any snow here in Malvern despite the MetO yellow alert. At 4oC that wasn't going to happen. Terribly soggy instead, and foggy.
-
*pokes nose in* - Malvern has a yellow warning for snow early tomorrow morning!
-
Oh dear, sorry to hear that...still it could have been worse if it had landed on you !
LOL! Yes. Well it was sometime in the early hours. The cats sleep out there, though, so I'll bet they all woke up! Got some sunshine now, but it's still not terribly pleasant out unless you like a cold gale whipping at you.
-
Perhaps there should be a 'no weather warnings' warning - that way we'd know there was trouble on the way. I can't believe we haven't had wind warnings for the last couple of days. The wind has dropped a little here in Malvern but I expect you folks down south are still suffering.

Whilst i enjoy exciting weather like this i have to say enough is enough. It's broken my new fence, smashed the greenhouse and is playing havoc with my woodburner, blowing smoke back down. Fed up of it now......
Ditto. It took down part of our fence and our garage door was pulling the wooden frame attaching it to the garage this morning, so we had to remove the door or else risk the corner of the garage coming down. Other half's had pneumonia over Xmas and now I don't feel so great either. Would MUCH rather have colder, crisp clear days or snow than endless gales! *grumble*
-
Morning all, I hope everyone survived another windy night without any storm damage ?
Unfortunately one of our wooden garage doors decided it might be nice to try to drag the whole wooden frame it's connected to off the wall. We had to take the door off otherwise risk the corner of the garage collapsing. Not impressed with this wind.

I must have slept through the gales but awoke at 4.30 and it was deluging. Yesterday in the mid afternoon I went for a short walk on the Malvern Hills where I live and nearly got blown over 3 times, the wind was so strong.
-
We had an intense hail shower a little while ago. Temp has dropped from 9oC this morning to just 5oC now.
-
Squall line hitting us now, what a deluge! Already appears to be lightening up, though. Very short and sharp.
-
Eeek. Can see it nearing on the radar, I hope the fence holds up, it's already weakened from the last gale and listing.
ha! Looked out the window and part of the fence HAS gone down already! And the squall line hasn't even come through yet.
-
Morning all from a very windy Malvern. Looks to be another strong line of precipitation approaching again from the NW if you look at the latest radar.

Merry Christmas weather lovers! At least the sun has finally peeped through the clouds here. Hoping for lots of interesting weather in 2012.
