  1. Hi Birdman, I'm living in Stroud but grew up ibn Chipping Norton (Chippy) so know your area well. Having been at school during 1963 I think I can say that you shoud do really well indeed out of this upcoming event! Enjoy!
  2. Hudsons field? I know I'min Stroud, but pass by frequently!
  3. Interesting because I'm about 120m high in Stroud and it's only 0.4c here and falling slowly.
  4. Well, aren't I the luck one! We had "Snow Business" at the goodwill evening last Friday in Stroud and they produced a blizzard for around two hours! I took a great photo but I wouldn't have a clue how to upload it onto here! Peter Stroud
  5. You seem to have about 40 miles of snow still to the west of you - about the same as Stroud, but the change to rain/sleet is not moving as fast as the actual precipitation - if you know what I mean - so it could last a couple of hours more....
  6. Been snowing here in Stroud since 1.30pm and now its blowing about. Temperature minus 0.4. The rain which was showing on the NW precipitation type radar to the west of here has changed back to snow so I'm expecting at least another hour or so of snow.
  7. ....and the temperature has fallen by a whole one degree C in the past hour here. Been snowing steadily now in Stroud for the past 45 minutes. Pete at 125mASL Ooops! I shouldn't have posted that - it's suddenly stopped!
  8. Steady light sleet coming down in Stroud, but I don't think you'll have any problem getting home!
  9. Not too late! I've only just arrived home from work. Working in the north Cotswolds this morning and it was very snowy out near Bourton-on the-Water and Stow- on - the Wold. A good inch of the white stuff, settling on the roads and traffic chaos with jack-knifed lorries. Although I live in Stroud I work all over the Cotswolds area and this is definately the best place to be if you like snow - except last Thursday when all the snow was in the Foreset of Dean. Still snow on the ground North of about Northleach.
  10. Yes Ian - very noticeable sudden drop in temperature of around 2 C around 3.30pm with a change in wind direction to more norherly. Light rain sudddenly became light snow and started settling.
  11. Please could I have a link to your Blog, John. Thanks.
  12. Thank goodness - some common sense at last! I'm a newcomer and trying to learn something from the experts but I'm not getting a very good impression so far!
  13. OK. It stalled for about an hour after you first saw it but it's really coming down here now. Just had to move the car to lower ground near the London Road where there is an impromptu car park as we are unable to get up and down our hill.
  14. Looks like about 20 miles of snow on the radar, then sleet, then........
  15. My partner is from Christchurch. She inherited her mother's house, which is empty at present and we are worried about frozen pipes recently, but seems to be milder down there now. Still light snow falling here and quite a bit on the radar. No thawing as it's still sitting on the telephone wires. O.6 C at present. I can stay up late as I am unable to get my car down our hill so no work tomorrow! Quite a few abandoned cars around here still.
  16. Welcome from Horndean. I used to have an Aunt living there. Very wintry up here in Stroud tonight. Started snowing around 11.00pm and we already have an additional 2cm or so. It's settling on everything and on top of the 10cm or so still left from last week.
  17. Answer is simple - you need several weather staions. They are always going wrong. I currently have three different systems. minus 8.1 here in Stroud last night. Still minus 3.2
  18. Very heavy precip moving in on you now - all snow - shouldn't have any problem sticking.
