  1. i'm putting myself on the block here, but the thursday/friday snow event looks like its for the south midlands at the moment. i'd go for chipping norton in oxfordshire to be a candidate for a lot of snow, and other parts of the cotswolds. london looks like getting sleet. i maintain that this could all change in what is a very mobile and marginal situation.

10/10! Sorry I've only just read this but I was brought up in Chipping Norton and true to form, my mum has phoned today to say that it's almost a foot deep and the most she has seen since 1963. Perhaps you should join the forecasting team?!

  2. 5 inches? You can add all 3 events together, you know. :unknw: I am in Downend and if you add it up, it's:

    Monday night....2"

    Wednesday night.....4"

    Thursday night/Friday......4"

Total for Downend is 10 inches!

In my part of Stroud at 125 metres we had:

    Monday 2"

    Tuesday 2"

    Wednesday 4"

    Thursday 6"

Total 14" - the most I've seen in 22 years here. Even more at higher levels above the town.

  3. we had a party on here in the early :) hrs.now another one

I MUST CALM DOWN.........in all of my yrs 42.of them...I cant remember snow after snow after snow in 5 days

You wern't around in 1963. I was at school in the North Cotswolds and even I got fed up with the amount of snow - after three months! It was still under the hedges in May. I remember walking down the main road on the tops of cars and scraping down to see if anyonewas inside. Honest. Drifts up to telegraph wires and up to the bedroom window. God, this makes me feel old!

  4. You joking, it's Stroud! Not the most normal town... Looking at the precip charts looks like a dry period coming then a chance of more following - still good at mo. Live on town end of Slad Rd, you near?

Thrupp Lane - a nightmare to get the car out in snow. OK once onto London Road. Just heard the BBC Glos forecast which says "snow becoming very heavy overnight"

  5. Although not blizzard, heaviest snow I've seen in Stroud area this winter so far at mo, everything going steadily white that isn't already. Please no rain! How's the cold air from the north progressing this way, anyone know??

I didn't think there was anybody else like me in Stroud! Yes, been snowing moderately here for 20 minutes or so now. I work in a school and it's beginning to look like another day tomorrow!
