  1. That is v much incorrect.. higher parts of Scotland may fair better as do Pennines Yorkshire Moors interior Wales..Midlands etc. But most of Scotland fairs no better than other parts of the UK ! I lived in Portsmouth for 15 years n to be honest snowfall was pretty much a non event as it is in coastal Ayrshire Scotland has a vast geography and difference in climate. It's not all a winter wonderland...far from it 8c today and rain
  2. Matt...when you look at Scotland most of the population live in low lying areas and near the coast. My location in Ayrshire is as snow starved as Cornwall. You in the Midlands are in a more favourable location than many of us Scots. I have lived in coastal Ayrshire for 13 years..n been lucky to see snowfall of more than 2 to 3 inches in that time
  3. 8c in Irvine and heavy drizzle.....drove to Newton Mearns 4c and heavy drizzle. Horrid day filled with low grey cloud,,
  4. As we try and digest why the cold and snow didn't arrive..many folk come to the conclusion that the models struggle with blocking patterns. But are they really struggling ? Are they not just showing the difficulty and the battle of one airmass against another ? Hence the unpredictable model output. Think about as a tug of war between to fairly equal teams..v difficult to predict an outcome until one team or force collapses.
  5. Quite easy..just forecast permagloom..Temps between 10c n 4c for Xmas day drizzle n odd wintery shower high ground in Wales n Midlands.
  6. Another grey day..horrid weather light drizzle all day n Temps around 3c. Disgusting and foul worst weather at this time of year. Rather spend Xmas with toothache than this permagloom crap.
  7. V interesting reading and viewing..if ECM comes back onboard it's game on for me.
  8. I admire your positivity. Many people have been lead up the garden path with the boom posts and 20cm here n 30cm for there...yes you may post what you see however you need to open your eyes to all the data.....even the ones that don't agree to your cold bias
  9. ECM turning the screw .. not looking very festive south of the border. We at least be cold n frosty with odd flurry.
  10. You said ECM was to be discounted n not supported earlier....how fickle the output is and how fickle some are for the headlines
  11. ECM is more reliable than GFS.... And has been for many years. Meto and ECM are the models to follow.
  12. Winter's tale I think your on the money with your analysis. Some south western area of Scotland may see something out of the front..north and east a few light flurries. Everywhere else bone dry.
  13. Don't see much of a white Xmas in ecosse except for morning frost. Should at least be a benign chilly day and useable.
  14. There are a greater number of options for the potential snow to be north of the Midlands and even for it to be further north than Scotland. Snow south of the Midlands is now shown least likely of the options. Interesting times tho
  15. Think we need to take this run with a pinch of salt ...too much flip flopping about. I feel it could be wednesday before we get a real grip on the weekends weather.
  16. Models are struggling...more runs needed..mild is the form horse..Atlantic always wins out..everything is 10 days away.. Always north of the M4 corridor..just a few of the madhouse cliches. In all seriousness the output for the big day is not looking great.
  17. Good morning guys...down in Essex this weekend n it's grey foggy and damp !! Madhouse getting a bit feisty this morning as the more northern members are rejoycing in what could be a snowy Xmas period !! Midlands south members TOTP ..oh well such is life. Models still chopping n changing tho it does look likely somewhere in the UK will have a white Xmas.
  18. For me mid dec to end of feb anything above 6c is mild and all double digits are extremely mild / warm !!
  19. Well one of the foulest days of this winter so far continuos moderate rain and fairly mild...... mood in the madhouse not great this afternoon, fluctuates with every run testing everyones patience anger and winter is over.
  20. Think a bartlett is high pressure that sits over France spain and the bay of biscay. keeping us in mild south westerlies
  21. Down the road in Killie / Irvine mild start 3c @ 0840 no ice or frost on cars etc.
  22. If carlsberg did winter days...sunny n temp no more than 2c ..ok rather have a blizzard but today was a perfect crisp day...madhouse is like a hormonal teen party !
