  1. This is correct.

The MetO are releasing updates to councils due to the sudden change in the weather.

The MetO did not even realise that ppn would head towards London so soon.

The very heavy snow in the SW right now has stalled. This will allow the much colder air to filter further South.

Temp and Dew point here is 1c

Tbh yamkin mate i think you know down in your heart off hearts its not looking to good for snow now mate not settling snow anyway so i expect the meto to stick to their warnings. Its a bitter pill to swallow but lets move on and get some sleep eh? Its not our day today. :yahoo:

  2. Well off to bed disapointed again now seems we have had our bit off fun last sunday/monday. but it just pi**** me off that i look foward to a snow event and then yet again we are let down at the last minuite. May think off stop looking at the models nearley every day after 10 years still cant predict weather from 4 hours out what chance is there then looking 4 days out? still hope some get their snow tonight just gets on my nerves it isint me honestley. night all B)

  3. Correct me if i'm wrong, but I thought your gritter friend was predicting heavy snow for the SE yesterday/last night. He didn't get that quite right, as the PPN was further north than originally expected. Personally, I think the Met are overforecasting the event for tonight/tomorrow. We'll see though...

Nope he said a very marginal situation mate which it was as it is it snowed for 45 mins then icy rain it was a tough call and a nowcasting situation. this looks less marginal and backed up by all forcasts bbc meto ect.

  4. Afternoon all, Well what makes this even more intresting is that i just had my gritter friend around so far his information has been spot on. He has had a emergency meeting this morning with met officials and there expecting a hell off alot off snow could be on par or even a bit more than sunday/mondays event. The thing that makes this even more intresting is that the gritter depot has only 15% off the gritt left from monday and with no more supply untill friday evening. so i expect things to be a hell off alot worse for us than the other day. really big event comeing up here and i feel a bigger event than sunday/monday is looming. Stay safe and listen to local raido for further updates. Im off down to the local market to stock up becouse by the sounds off it im in surrey and on a hill= pasteing

I agree. Just going to copy in what I wrote in another thread:

I would be very surprised to see more than two inches in London tomorrow tbh. First of all, the ground will be very wet and secondly, the temperatures seem a little too high. I expect it will start out as rain, then sleet for most of the day, followed by some snow on the back edge. I think the Met & BBC are putting out forecasts for the worse (or best in our case) case scenario. Time will tell...

    Disagree mate,

For first off the ground will be dry or icy before the ppn falls. Temps dont seem to be a problem the bbc always have a habbit off overplaying temps but still good enough. if it starts to snow it will stay snow.

  5. Morning all, Had a bit off rain last night but it was more icy rain still snow cover here wideley although has gone from 9cms that i mesured from last night to 4cms that i have currentley but hopefully things will brighten up. Now as for the meto warnings what i also find very strange aswell but a nice suprise is monday it shows 24 hours off constant heavy snowfall even on the coasts probally be changed but one to keep a eye on. :D

  6. Evening all just a word on thursday and fridays snow event down here its still looking good i expect this to still take effect but at the moment the models are haveing difficulty in pin pointing the low and the positioning off it but expect the firm up tommrow afternoon. Now pictures you have all been mailing me for here they are enjoy.

  7. Afternoon all well what a amazeing 48 hours off weather i have seen here in surrey had over 35cms off snow fall over the whole event well over a foot and hardley a thaw here my back garden has become a ice rink and even the pond is partley frozen over. now some off you may have heard off my mate who does the griting in these events and i was keeping you all informed off whats to be expected from there side updates ect and he was spot on. He poped round again today for a cup off tea and said early on in the morning the gritters have had another meeting regarding thursday right through to next week yes more snow he went into detail to say south east and southern england are going to bear the brunt off it again with the same amounts that we have seen very likeley. He then said it could get a hell off alot worse next week and beyond early signs say. but confidence is moderate at the moment but i will keep you all updated through the week. By the way i need to get a little help off my sister not to sure how to post these pics but got around 20 and will upload them as soon as i can. Take care all

  9. HOLY CRAP

The last time I saw those snow depths at low level was back in Feb 1991 and I still had to walk to school in it. Fantastic streamer you've got there and a lot more generated than I initially thought when looking at the synoptics.

yes and still alot off showers comeing off the north sea and still keeping the snow streamer going. then we got the low comeing up from france could give a further 10-15cms thursday has another warning out for 10-15cms aswell :)

  10. Maybe if you stopped typing in a large font as you were asked to by the mods then things might be a bit calmer?

I am near your area and am also very excited but others who are less fortunate don't really want to see giant posts every now and then shouting about how much snow you have.

True mate i am sorry just exited as hell i will use the normal now. :)

  11. Not getting the hump mate, its just amazing to be hearing of such amounts in SW london! :o

    I'm happy for ya!

Ok mate i will post on then i truely cannot belive it myself i was expecting half as much as i have now throughout the whole event and we are bareley half way through aswell with the persistant very heavy snow moveing up from france later :o
