Strangely enough, the Rain Today radar shows snow exactly over my street whereas, in reality, there is only mist and no precipitation.

In reply to Cumulus on the now locked thread, I am in Bracebridge Heath which is on a bit of a hill about 2 miles south of Lincoln. Currently no sign of any precipitation although the temps have risen from -5 at around 4.30 to a current -3. At the time of typing, it is misty.

Temp still rising in Lincoln. -3 now and misty. No rain or snow as of yet.

Here in Lincoln, the temperature has started to rise. It's now only -4.

Temperature also seems to be dropping here despite the forecast - it's -5 now.

Currently -4 here on a ridge just south of Lincoln. All the weather forecasts are saying it will be +4 by midnight and raining. Must be some warmer air on it's way to us. Shame it couldn't last out until Christmas Day though.

Hard frost this morning in Lincoln. Have just checked Netweather's local forecast for the next few days and it seems we are forecast rain not snow so I guess this is the end of the lying snow today?

Snowing pretty hard in Lincoln right now. Much as I love snow, hate the thought of driving in it tomorrow morning at 7.30!

Been snowing for a while on and off now in Lincoln. It's been very cold today, none of last evening's snow melted even in the direct sunshine so it's settling easily now. Doesn't feel as cold as it did earlier.

I'm in Lincoln and I can confirm that is snowing fairly steadily at present.

Currently a very heavy thunderstorm in Lincoln - some of the thunder sounds like explosions. Sorry, really not very technical - not a hugely active storm but what there is, is really loud and scaring my cats! :lol:

Just driven past the Jackson building on Pelham Bridge and it said 26C on the digital display - that's in the shade facing northish, though. Feels hotter

Just headed out to the swimming pool but turned back. The road down the hill was pretty snowy and the traffic at a virtual standstill. I could have got down it but worried about getting back up later. Decided to turn back. Still snowing in Lincoln.

This must be really bad in France - just seen on the news that ALL Paris airports have closed due to the weather conditions.

Not very scientific, but my car gave a temp of 7C in Lincoln about half an hour ago where it was actually raining. We live up the hill where it is misty and the temp is only 1.5C. Local forecast on the radio said heavy rain for tonight so I guess it will finally wash away the snow which has been laying for over a week now.

Hi Hemlock It is actually sleet falling in Bracebridge Heath for the moment. Lindum Hill terrified me this morning - cars were sliding back down the road. I sat there in mortal terror - I have never been so glad to get to work. I'm actually kinda hoping that the sleet will turn to rain and wash it away for the morning and then the weather can do it's worst at the weekend.

Well, I am home but that was a truly frightening experience driving to work in Lincoln this morning. There aren't many hills in this county but I had to drive down one and up another to get to work and cars were zig zagging all over the place. Not a single road was clear. I felt really wobbly by the time I got into the office. The snow stopped at lunch time and, thankfully, all but small residential roads are clear now. The thing is, I went to bed thinking we were forecast rain for today and it took me completely by surprise. I heard the local radio forecasting heavy snow tonight again.

Still snowing hard and fast in Lincoln - settling very quickly on frozen ground. Gonna have to get a wriggle on and get an early start for work. We lose a day's pay if we try to claim a 'snow day'.
