  1. I took a photo in Glasgow city centre at Cowcaddens subway. I was just just after 3pm but really dark and snowing heavily.
  2. Some really heavy bursts of snow when doing my Christmas shopping in Glasgow this afternoon and looks like theres more to come. PS. C'mon Tulloch Bridge!!!!
  3. Could be an interesting rush hour coming up in Glasgow.
  4. Snow now reaching Glasgow and has been falling steadily to the west of the city for 15 minutes.
  5. I think they should push in later today but its always a bit random where they go.
  6. Yes, snow showing on the Traffic Scotland webcam near Girvan already.
  7. Very good model runs this morning for Scotland if your looking for longer term cold with snow prospects. On the down side the met office 3-5 day update overnight seems to be hinting at a milder spell from Boxing day but would not have built into this forecast this mornings runs, so may change.
  8. It shows how marginal the snow has been over the last few days. Theres a covering just outside the city centre in most directions.
  9. It might be worth keeping an eye on the low thats tracking roughly north east on Christmas Eve and has been moved a little bit further north on the last few runs. It should bring some snow to those just north of it. Probably be a bit of movement in where it ends up over the next couple of days but worth a look.
  10. As I dont keep records I'm going to agree with you on that one. It does seem rare to have a cold spell with snow around in so many areas before Christmas and looking at the latest models there doesnt seem to be much sign of any big changes to milder weather.
  11. I just noticed that its -3c on Islay just now. That must be a pretty low temperature for the islands.
  12. I'm in Bishopbriggs and still lying snow this morning but would say that on the whole, for the areas with the most Met Office weather warnings such as west central Scotland, the last 2 days has been really poor for snowfall. Temperatures have been warmer than predicted and it seems to me that the centre of the low pressure has just sat on top of these areas repelling any heavy showers or longer periods of snow. Where snow falls is really is difficult to predict in the UK and in my experience the best snowfall tends to happen just as often as a surprise rather than as predicted. I dont think the Met Office have covered themselves in glory with this spell however.
  13. I know. I'm exhausted. Ps the road up from Bishopbriggs to Balgrayhill is absolute chaos. Compacted snow and ice with no gritting. One bus is stuck on a roundabout and another bus has slid back into a set of traffic lights and is embedded in them. Big traffic jams. For anyone in the area - avoid.
  14. I'm in Bishopbriggs and its been snowing steadily and quite heavily for over an hour. Roads getting quite tricky.
  15. Got to say, its very light so far in the West End.
  16. Seems to be a bit of a waiting game for some across the central belt. Loads of quite heavy precipitation sitting just out west. Hopefully its just a matter of time before that starts to edge in and with temperatures now dropping could bring some good snowfall. Fingers crossed.
  17. I'd say there is a decent chance of snow almost anywhere in Scotland as the day goes on. For central parts probably more likely later in the afternoon going into this evening.
  18. The snow is really marginal just now across the central belt and the main band does seem to be fizzling out a bit as is usually the case here with northerlies although it will probably pep up again as it moves towards the border. It was weird how quickly the weather changed there in Glasgow. Just before the front arrived it was calm and sunny and the temperature really started rising and then in no time it was dark with really blustery winds and heavy rain. I'd expect the temperature to be going one way now - down.
  19. I'm in the west end and it got really dark quickly and has come on heavy right away. Definately rain. Hopefully cold will dig in quickly behind it.
  20. I do think it may start as wet snow/sleet in the city but I've been driving on the outskirts/to the north east of Glasgow and, albeit the car thermometre, but its about 2 degrees colder there so may start as snow a few miles outside. We'll soon see.
  21. Mondays Met Office weather warning now covers the whole of Scotland. I'm now starting to feel that some parts could get loads of snow over the next 3 days.
  22. Think its reached Aberdeenshire looking at the traffic cameras but not sure about how long to get to your location.
