Living in the East has its benefits most of the time as it’s drier and sunnier except when this chilly North Sea gloom kicks in then it’s yuck.
Very grateful though as many have seen a few storms already this year.

A Very Merry Christmas,
to all our South East Regional members.
Hope you're all having a lovely Christmas Day.
'Er indoors is just putting the finishing touches to our Christmas Dinner, which would've been one of those 3 Bird Roast thingys but due to the cost of living crisis, we've had to opt for one of those 3 Bread Toast thingys, Allinsons [even that's got too expensive], Hovis and Sainsburys own, topped off with a tin of value brand baked beans!! But I lie of course, we just scraped together enough money to afford the former.
Like SNOWANGEL-MK, I've been in the wars as well, with an excruciatingly painful shoulder blade.
'Er indoors tells me it's down to bad posture, when sitting over my Laptop. I'm now banned by the Missus from hosting my Winter Horse Racing Competition, which from Tomorrow until New Year's Day would've been chock-a-block with Racing. Just as it was when I was working in the Bookmaking industry.
Being the cheapskate as I am and as money is so tight, we can't afford to send out individual Christmas cards.
Therefore, I will have to send you the following Group one:
Cats' carol - Christmas - send free eCards from 123cards.com
Very best wishes to all,
Tom, Colette and our little Kitty, Signorina Mia .
Hi Tom, to fix posture and 90% of shoulder issues do bar hangs.
Had similar shoulder issues last year, just get a bar that hooks over any doorframe and hang from it for a minute or two three times a day.
You don’t have to lift your feet off the floor at first it’s just getting the shoulders opened up will do the job over a few weeks.

It's now 8.4C down here, and we have had 19.6mm of rain with another squall expected in a couple of hours. It has been below 8C since 6th December. The sea has been churned up by the stronger SW winds - I can even hear it roaring through the double glazing.
That must be so nice to hear the sea all year round.
Also do you have low light pollution to allow for stargazing? -

Grim out there this afternoon, stayed indoors and put some decorations up. Feels colder in a damp 3c than it did in a dry -3c
Was surprised how raw it felt earlier outside and yes feels colder than when it was sub zero.

Balmy few days ahead compared to what we’ve had, there is just a glimmer of hope we could cool down Christmas Eve/Christmas day, in next couple of days I am going to hope for some upgrades to at least get us cold and frosty for Christmas Day
Certainly will feel warm compared to recently after acclimating to the cold.
However I have a feeling that the in new year cold will return.

I wonder does anyone know when is the last time snow has been on the ground for this length of time in the London area? 2009 and 2010 only a few days. Don't really remember February 1991 though i believe there was alot of snow then.
Feb 1991 was truly exceptional, it snowed for at least a whole day.
There was 12 inches in Braintree where I grew up and max daytime temps of -4 Celsius.
I remember the depths were up to the tops of my bmx bike wheels!
Would love to hear anyone else’s memories of this event as this region did very well I believe.

Minus 9 here at 6.30am, 16.c indoors but felt colder. The guy downstairs has gone away this week so the flat below is unheated, making our floors very cold. What with the cost of heating, we decided to not let any of our 3 wall heaters go above 19.c and to not let the humidity rise above 80 as damp, cold air is harder to heat. It's been quite a battle to maintain a comfortable environment since the cold weather arrived and the windowsills are sopping with condensation. Dare I say it but I'll tale 11.c and rainy at the moment.
We purchased a de humidifier two years ago to keep the humidity down during winter months and yes it makes the house feel warmer and you save money on heating too.

It does seem a lot more snow fell, and over a wider area, than the Met were expecting. Near enough 6 inches over north London, SW Essex and south Herts. A good few inches over E Sussex and parts of Kent too.
Yep, just goes to show get the cold in first and all. Still snowing here in Cambs.

Really great to see all the pictures on here of the snow you have.
I feel very grateful that here in South Cambs it’s still coming down nicely.
