Still snowing fairly hard here. There is around 5cm on top of the car at the moment. The best snow event I have witnessed since January 2013.
Its picking up here again now as temps have dropped with no melting so will accumulate much better.

Cheers buddy, made my weather year already tbh and my little boy has seen and been out in his first snowfall too so great day. I guess its swings and roundabouts over time but does feel like an eternity!
Same here my boy’s 11 so was very young the last time he saw massive flakes like this.
Also you having a few cm’s already bodes well for here.

Madness, its still hammering down here (4cm so think we won't be cut off!) and I'm just up the road. maybe I'm in the sweet spot for a change, really shocked and sorry so many are getting nothing or rain!! Fingers crossed for you all.
Nice one mate as you’ve missed out there quite a few times

Do you know what . I’d be tempted to just go back old school and not even look at the projected micro changes . Just enjoy anything that comes out of the sky that isn’t wet. Personally I had a great morning last weekend going up Reigate Hill and seeing snow . I’m fully confident tomorrow will be a repeat
Interesting approach as I have done the same this weekend, not looked at radar or multiple forecasts or app’s. It snowed here on Friday night and today without knowing exactly where and when it was going to happen.
The only weather related info I’ve seen is on this brilliant thread, seeing the excitement from people posting that they have snow.

Much heavier now, and settling a little as well. Better than nothing, which was what the forecast was for today.

Started to stick now even though it’s very wet, this makes it the fourth time this winter that we’ve had a dusting or more! Impressive for my corner up here in norfolk where i’ve normally struggled to get one day
Hopefully you’ll get some coverage when the heavy stuff starts.

I do remember that that area got the most pitiful snowfall you could imagine, I think they ended up with maybe 1-2cms at most?
I know down here in Essex we were white but it was very modest indeed compared to vast parts of the country, ended up with maybe 2-3cms I think here, and we were in a better location than some parts of EA where the bands pivot meant they got the dregs of the dying front when it came through, which you can actually see nicely on the map as it was clearing eastwards.
I can't speak for the other events, December 2010 probably was centered too far south for them to get much. Feb 09 was a widespread streamer event so they may well have missed out there as well.
So they may well have got 3-5cms from 3 events, whilst Guildford for example probably ended up with 60-80cms from those 3 events. So to be fair can't blame them for feeling short changed!
Spot on mate, I remember watching the heavy snow reports from further South on Dec 17 but it just fizzled out by the time it reached the A14
However Feb 09 was very good in regards to when fronts kept coming up from the South after the initial Easterly when parts of the SE got buried.

Trust me I remember all of this in detail as it was so frustrating.
Dec 09 we had a dusting that lasted through till Jan 2010 it was literally a covering comparable to a frost. Living near the edge of the fens is one of the worst places for any precipitation. Huntingdon is under the clouds on that satellite picture and had negligible amounts of snow. -

Shows how hit and miss snow can be. I was in Cambourne, where u are now at that time had some of the best snowfalls I've seen in this area.
Really, was it the Dec 09 event?

On the bright side, if we don't get anything decent over the next few weeks, at least we'll be closing in on noticeably lighter evenings (and early spring warmth with any luck). Love that transition period, probably one of my favourite times of the year.
Add that to the vaccine rollout and plenty to be positive about, even in the midst of a pretty miserable winter in every sense so far
It was definitely a little lighter this morning under clear skies and a frost.

Yes the GFS 12z op was a complete cold outlier, but with how fickle the ensembles have proven to be of late who believes what any of them say. The op once again showed that cold building out east and advancing through Europe. Of course it's probably completely wrong at this stage, but at some point in February I expect we'll get a few shots at this link kind of pattern.
Yes big low pressure on Thursday maybe will shake things up a bit, setting up more Southerly tracking lows that can deliver in our part of the world.

Hope you weren’t too ill with it and are feeling better now?
Thank you for the kind words, just had the standard version with high temperature and lethargic, was a bit worried as I’m an asthmatic but all better now and very thankful as many others have been very ill.

Just about to pop out for my Sunday morning run, although it'll be a lot shorter than usual as I've not run for a month for various reasons.
Was a glorious sunny, blue sky affair about an hour ago, but it looks like the cloud is starting to rear its head (earlier than the MetOffice prediction!) to what seemingly could be a more cloudy afternoon. About 5c in the garden but its not the most accurate sensor on the best of days!
Same here it’s a better morning for a run, not been myself for a month due to having corona virus over Christmas.
