light sleet in Penistone now, but more rain than snow.
currently saying 3.8C outside
-
Nothing up in Penistone so far.
I've to get to work on the bus for 12 o'clock, let's see what happens!
-
Just traveling down to leek for a polar express experience. It's been snowing since we hit halfway up the east side of the woodhead.
Just near Buxton and (unsurprisingly) it's white over
Hope it's clear enough for us to get back!
-
Spalding and south Lincolnshire are getting pummelled right now!!

the weather is just shocking to say it's mid summer!
we've got 13.6C and thick cloud with showers.
I don't expect red hot temps, but it should be better than this!
-
Penistone shield ruins it again
the storm has petered out right as it got to us!
-
Rumbling in the distance earlier, from a storm heading over Manchester and the peaks
we've now got rumbling coming from the Sheffield direction. so we could get a storm after all
-
100% cloud cover and still a chilly breeze here in Penistone. We had about 90 minutes of sun last night, then it clouded over again.
Let's hope the cloud breaks and it starts to warm up a bit
Hope everyone else is enjoying warmth and sunshine!

Amazing difference in just a few miles! Very little snow left on pavements and roads now, just on the grass. Will be interesting to see if we get a change back to snow when the heavier precip over Sheffield reaches us.
as you say, it's amazing what just a few miles and a bit of elevation can do. still snowing heavily here!
-
just sat waiting in Barnsley bus station and the roads around here in the town centre are starting to get a layer of snow here and there with bits of slush in the other bits. won't be long before it starts covering properly.

Just got in from work and wow,...i didn't expect this snowfall today and much further north than suggested yesterday
still snowing and settling now and it looks on for a few hours yet,..ppn on the increase from the E/SE
and an amber warning for tomorrow into Friday,...it's about freaking time we hit the jackpot
should be fun coming home from work tomorrow afternoon to test my new mokka 4x4 out
the Mokka 4x4 is fantastic in the snow. We had one up to about a year ago.
a few years ago when the BFTE hit, we were carers at that time and it got everywhere (we live out at Penistone)
we only got stuck once, and that was because we hit a 7 foot snow drift

the River Don here in Penistone has burst it's banks in many places, livestock have been swept away and the Stocksbridge Bypass is closed due to flooding

Metoffice has us down for frontal snow around 11/12 today, then Snow/Sleet overnight from 3am until Heavy Snow from early morning onwards.
We've now been lumped into the warning too. Fun day off watching the weather ahead....

I wasn’t aware it had snowed in Sheffield, it snowed in my location about 10mins past 12midnight making it the 26th and the front bringing the snow was travelling south? Although they officially paid out for Leeds Bradford airport which is slightly south east from me. Unless it was due to snow flurries earlier in the day?
Don't know how to confirm it, only anecdotally (like here ), but yep, Penistone had a few snow showers around lunch/ early afternoon.
It was just starting as we arrived for our Christmas Dinner at Grandma's

woke up this morning to a covering of wet snow on the bins, sheds and cars. nothing settled on the floor though (just a little on some astroturf we keep on the back garden for the cats)
It's showing something rather tasty around here on Friday on NW forecast, anything actually going to come of it?
-
Very fine misty precipitation falling here this morning. Not enough for a coat or brolly.benough to need wipers about every 5 mins it so.
Nothing on radar at all though.
Honestly though, it's nice to be walking in it, cooling I'll be complaining later when it's evaporating and it's humid though

Snowing moderately-ish at the moment. Starting to settle slowly on the cars, but not on the floor as yet
