Temp dropped from 5c to 1.5c in around an hour and rain turned to wet snow in Aberbargoed

I think you might be right. At this rate it will be 35c lol! I don't know, my parents got it for me and after moving house I lost it but found it this morning and fired her up!

The temp broke 30c here in Ystrad Mynach at 12.10pm. The hottest day by a long way. I think 32c will be broken here easily today. James

I know I'm from SE Wales but I think we may be heading for our hottest day for a few years! At 12.30 it was 30.1c giving S England a run for their money! Simply stunning here in Ystrad Mynach

My guess is that the rain/snow line is around 400m. In Gelligaer just above Ystrad Mynach in the Rumney Valley there were flakes miked in with the snow and temps around 2c. James Lol sorry flakes mixed in with the rain

Still snowing steadily here in Ystrad Mynach as it has done for the last 4 hours or so. Probably around 3-4 inches have fallen. Everything white, even the roads. Im guessing around 8 inches total on the ground now after the thaw over the last few days with tonights top up! Very impressed with how the NAE modelled this for SE Wales James

Be patient. Those experiencing rain or sleet should see snow later today and overnight in the warning areas. As all these events have been so far (as is almost always the case) things may well shift/change a little over the next 12-18 hours. And as normal some people will do very well and others see nothing. Having snow cover since friday with already 2 falls of snow and another on its way, its not been a bad cold spell although as with a lot of these events in recent years a degree or so colder would have seen powder snow and no thaw. The only powder we had here was on friday but with little elevation here its not usual. This is a nowcast situation so the best thing is to simply keep an eye on the radar, far more accurate than looking at the weather updates. I for one am looking forward to the next 24 hours, as I feel that there will, as usual, be some surprises James

SE Wales in particular and the Valley regions, esp higher ground could receive 10cms or more later into the day and evening, falling in quite a short period of time. James

Some people have reported falls of 20cm so I think the MetO did a pretty good job issuing the warnings for our area in the lower valleys. Im here in Ystrad Mynach, with not much elevation and we've had a good 6 inches or 15cm, with light snow still falling and blowing off roofs. James

Facinating stuff. We had around 5cms from the convective stuff and another 5cms from the warm front so cant complain and that was pretty much at sea level. When I see the photos of SE/SW London however it shows that this really was a rare event The best snow for mid and east Kent came from the 'suprise' snowfall two thursdays ago which left parts of the Kent N Downs under 10cms. Do you also think that the pollution of London and the Thames Estuary region played a part in this event. More pollutants should in theory mean more for the ice crystals to hang on to? James

Huge flakes coming down here, must be right on the cusp of turning sleety. A great night though and good to see mid Kent do well this time as we missed out pretty much. Funny really. This has given us one of the heaviest snowfalls of this spell and it wasn't even forecast for this area until this morning!!! James

Now a good 10cms at the top of Detling Hill. Only one lane open and very slippery indeed. Wouldn't suprise me if it closes soon. Even here in Iwade, roads covered!!! James

Big sploges on the windscreen here in Iwade on my way home just now. Ironically it was drizzling and around 1.5c on top of the Downs and here at 2.5c and nearly at sea level I find sleet!! Obviously the heavier precipitation is dragging down colder air and a bit of evapourative cooling going on. James
