South East & East Anglia Regional Weather Discussion 26/10/13
SF-02 replied to Snowangel-MK's topic in Regional
Can here the wind now in south London. Nothing amazing rain or wind wise so far. I was woken up by the wind one night last week that was much louder that lasted a good 20 minutes. See if this can match that.- 1,436 replies

Don't leave until you've checked national rail departures and realtimetrains.com for up to the minute info. Ignore everything else as likely to be wrong or behind the times. -
Possible severe storm Monday 28th October 2013 Part 3

Pretty much everyone will be having the day off! Very rare for most to be within walking distance of work, and many have no option but trains to get to central London. -

'breaking news: Southern Trains will not run until the storm has passed. The news just in on Sky News.' That's not a sign of the weather definitely being awful though. If they run and anything happens their stats look bad and are liable to pay outs. cancel or run an emergency timetable and they don't. -
South East & East Anglia Regional Discussion 4th April 2013 onwards

Nowt settled in SE London. Hopefully some later. Would make the horrible 5 months of cold (with only one day of decent snow) this winter slightly less annoying. -

Is anyone finding it quiet out? This weather must be impacting a lot of businesses. I was supposed to go pub but too bloody cold to walk 15 mins to station, wait for train and then do the return later. Staying in in the warm. Seems quite a few people doing similar from what I hear businesses must be hurting.- 810 replies

Anything in SE London or yet more cold rain that we seemingly have had for months on end? I've just booked a looong warm holiday next month thankfully. I don't mind cold but only if it ends up with snow, not bloody cold rain.- 938 replies

Exactly. Just because many have done well the past couple of years doesn't mean all have. Normally we miss out on anything more than 1cm except feb 2009 which was still less than most. But today is great! Beats almost all snow events of recent years here. I know that as I found my snow pics folder from earlier events on the PC earlier and it tallies with what I remembered.- 892 replies

About 2-3cm here in SE London. Very heavy now. Much much better than Friday This is the most since Feb 2009, and apart from that in 20 years! Wooooo! This is all I ever wanted - just a couple of cm which we normally miss out on. I can't even imagine 10cm!

Should do and wouldn't be hard. 1cm would top yesterdays amount. -

Will this snow heading up get to SE London? Most of the snow earlier from the west degraded a lot about 5-10 miles west of here, and I hope snow heading to kent doesn't skim by 10 miles to the east.- 777 replies

The BBC morning forecast was spot on. The band died away around the Greenwich meridian line with areas east getting barely anything and progressively more going west and south. That means Peter (if this doesn't say cockroft when referring to a bbc forecaster, I have maturity issues) Cockrofts forecast of not much snow in recent days was spot on for many.

Cos it's fun! The UK economy is way too messed up with structural problems for a bit of snow to make much difference long term.
-
Stopped now in Bexley. Total of 1cm. Not great.
-
How much you got in Forest Hill? in Bexleyheath there's only 1cm. Don't do too well with easterlies either as mostly dies out over Kent.
-
Still just 0.2cm in outer Se London near Kent get a move on!
-
I'm nearby. Not much at all right now. Looking on the radar just about everywhere else has had more including central London. Not sure how long that will last with some orange bands moving west.
-
About 2mm here in SE London. When people say cm do they really mean mm? The rest of the world always seems to have more whenever I read snowfall totals and I'm wondering if people are exaggerating?
-
Still very light in SE London. Lighter on radar than rest of London keeping up its proud tradition.

And he did predict quite a bit of snow in December which didn't happen at all so he isn't always pushing mild weather.- 877 replies
