The light band moving east at the moment is completely dying as it reaches London. Some falls north though around Northampton. Some red spots over Aylesbury to the north and Southampton to the SW.

Looking forward to the downgrades tomorrow as it degrades, or it turning to rain over London as it heads east

London & South East Regional Discussion - January 15th 2013>

He did predict quite a lot of snow just before the amazing 'beast from the east' in December. -
It gives a good insight into how much rubbish the UK media (both broadsheet and tabloid) write when you see nonsense and sensationalism like that written about a subject you know well. Makes one sceptical about the knowledge in articles about subjects you may know little about.

Better to wait for a decent Ryanair sale then everyone can fly to Europe somewhere in a couple of weeks for guaranteed snow, then book a trip after for guaranteed early spring warmth around the Med. Much better than constant damp in the UK.

Look to be on course for less than most other areas here in SE London/NW Kent. Darker colours to north heading to East London/Essex, and the stuff from North west/Cheshire heading SW to W London, Berkshire, Oxford. We shall see!- 739 replies

Indeed anyone wanting snow head to the channel tunnel - as soon as you're in France there will be much more and then drive any direction for more. When all of it crosses the channel it will be definite snow.

Probably because 90% of snow events turn to rain or fade away near the time and then we hear 'but wait until the next day/week/event it's looking much better' before getting close again and a downgrade. A groundhog day mindset can set in. It's impossible to predict until a few hours before anyway.

South East & East Anglia Regional Discussion - January 9th 2013>
SF-02 replied to Snowangel-MK's topic in Regional
Hopefully the latest BBC forecast is conservative. It showed precipitation as rain on Saturday and not very far north, but still cold. Just about as cold as it can be before it snows. Cold rain! Typical story if that happens. Then when it does become cold enough the rain has gone as it headed away south, and then some very light showers just brushing the Kent coast but that's about it. -

Just seen BBC forecast. Nowt snow all week now. Remember last week when it rained all night at 2-3c yet the same system dumped a load of snow over France, Belgium, Holland as it moved south, and hearing we would be next. No luck then and none now! -
Let's hope for some snow tonight. A long shot I know. Cold (4-5c) rain is awful weather. Always annoying to see the forecast as very cold but rain over the SE then turn to a mass of white as it crosses the channel and hits the European mainland as the BBC forecast shows tonight.

Uk Convective General Discussion & Forecasts - April 2012 part 3
SF-02 replied to Liam J's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
Turning very dark again here in Se London. This has happened half a dozen times though and it always seems to move by a few miles away, with a few spots of rain and then the sun arrives again. Frustrating and hopefully different this time. EDIT : All the dark clouds seem to be just too far north again. Can see them clearly - must only be a couple of miles -

I'm in SE London and have seen all of one burst of thunder all day. It keeps skimming by. Same thing in last 10 mins. Where are you? -
London & South East Cold Spell Discussion
SF-02 replied to grab my graupel's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
I'm in SE London and only had 1mm today. Im not joking that's it. I have been inspired by the posts of travelling out to nearby rural areas and will try and do that tomorrow. Only 20 miles away should have loads of deep snow. It will be lovely but I would love to see the city under deep snow which looks great, but we've continuously missed out this week so heading out it is. -

Not even a cm in Abbey Wood to add to the 2cm that's fallen throughout the whole week. -

A shower started about 10 minutes ago. Hopefully we can top up our 1/2cm. Is much more coming here or bypassing as usual? -

Hi I'm in Abbey Wood and that's disappointing to hear. We have only had 2cm max at all around here over the past few days. Hopefully Sunday will be better. -
Snow/Wintry Precipitation Reports: 28th January 2004 (1)
SF-02 replied to Tim B's topic in Weather reports
Nothing in SE London surprisingly Just wondering why when I looked at 8AM this morning it was sunny and dry. Not even rain. Considering 30 miles away in kent they had inches of snow, and also to the north of london why nothing came?
