To be fair fabulous memories are made during epic snow events. I say just do it and be a cool mum or dad they will thank you for it in the long run. Must be so lonely and difficult having all your lessons away from your friends. These kids will carry the COVID scars for a long time. How about a compromise and make up the work on another day otherwise you will be stuck inside with them and missing out in all the fun yourself.
i would certainly make sure that if there is enough snow to go out and have fun in my son and i would go outside, cant beat father and son time.

Just watched today’s BBC forecast and it’s looking very dry for all after tomorrow and they mentioned a warm up towards the end of the week. Fingers crossed we get some decent snow cover tomorrow but can’t help feeling disappointed after talk of 30-40cms possible. Just goes to show that the pros know more than we do, as you would expect.
i do feel this has been very hyped up, apart from the s/e i dont think we are going to see much snow at all, still, on the plus side there should be no issues keeping the vaccine roll out going

i have to admit to having a nagging doubt that we shall miss out this time around, it certainly is a hit or miss situation and hopecasting, lol
-
morning all, here is to a great day of hoping and radar watching, both bbc and met have delayed any snow for here until late tonight, so for us here tomorrow looks our best chance of the week, stay safe everyone.
-
temp still a balmy 3c here, light drizzle and a light breeze, i still feel that some parts including here will miss out on any snow but we shall see, one thing we can be sure of is some parts are in for a cracking week of snow and cold.

After a very wet 3 months the last thing i expected was it to Pi$$ down the entire day!
lashing it down here to, no sign of the cold stuff as yet, even if it does turn to snow its to wet to settle.

rain here as per the forecast and slightly warmer than forecast, monday seems our best chance it seems for snow, then a very cold dry cloudy week to follow, hoping things pop up at short notice.
-
More disappointing output and met office forecast for the week ahead for here, heavy rain showers and rain all day tomorrow, then cloudy and dry for the whole of next week although cold, on the plus side vaccine supplies should not be held up, and that is far more important.

was hoping for a snowy upgrade for here but alas its even worse, light patchy snow on sunday at best, same on monday before rain and sleet arrives next friday, on the plus side there should be no probs getting the vaccine out which is far more important

Is this a wind up post?
not at all mate, a very dry week is forecast going by the met and bbc online, maybe a bit of light snow for a time early sunday, then dry till thursday, met say same but possible sleet on sunday evening.
-
puts sledge back in the shed, very underwhelming forecast from Met and bbc for snow, chilly and cloudy at best once the rain clears on saturday night

Dare not post this elswhere, but is it just me that thinks this easterly is trending the wrong way regarding snow fall, check out the 72hrs Fax for Sunday, the shower lines have gone...yesterday i looked at Coniston which was due 3 days of heavy snow showers on the Met app...now its dry?!
i have to say i feel this is going to be a 3 day chilly spell at best.
-
going to be a huge bust here, sunday now looking bone dry, maybe a little snow on monday, then dry for the rest of the week.

to much excitement in the Mod thread, thought id come here for a more realistic opinion as we all know that if it can go wrong for the uk then it will, we are still 4 days away from the potential colder weather which means lots of time for change and not in a good way if its cold and snow you are after.
-
hi guys, great to read the positive vibes regarding the potential upcomming cold spell, we all know though that if it can go wrong it will go wrong so what potential flies in the ointment if any are the models showing that could scupper the uk getting the cold in?
-
good morning all, well as a rule of thumb for me is to look at the met office and bbc online forecasts to see their predictions and i have to say they are awful for cold and snow for here, chilly, sleety but not alot of snow, all very disappointing, then i come to hear to read everyones views and expected to read its all gone wrong overnight in the models, but i am glad to read we are still in with a chance of snow up and down the country so not to write of the chances yet. keep up the good work guys and gals.

4cm in Peterborough. Still snowing although lighter than earlier Met Office app showing snow, heavy later, til 7pm.
Looking at radar may well be that Peterborough is the pivot point for the front as it moves away eastward
a nice light dusting here in spalding, not expecting to much more
