  1. Im still rather new to this weather game, so I probably dont know what Im talking about, but Im less optimistic for snow tonight than last night - sure the temps seem a little better but the intensity of precipitation isnt there. Hping to be wrong, but even in the absence of snow am looking forward to the cold spell ahead.
  2. Thats the blob formally known as grotbags, that I was recently moaning at for going rubbish when it reached Nuneaton. Well since then it has produced some nice big flakes that are blowing around nicely, it arrived later than the radar suggested it should, and I dont expect it to last long, so dont expect too much from it other than some nice lamppost views.
  3. Actually its now delivered a bit more snow, presently not much compared to rates achieved earlier, and I doubt it will last long.
  4. Ive been watching it on the radar, its reached the Nuneaton area but has failed to deliver anything, grotbags ran out of snot methinks.
  5. Well in the last hour the forecast from BBC and Met office for my location, Nuneaton, has become more depressing. A bit warmer, with precipitation arriving later than previously forecast, and being light rain for ages, then heavy snow around 6PM, then sleet. Wed & Thu looking wetter as well.
  6. Ta very much, interesting stuff. Ive been trying to track down a lot of snow we had when I was in my teenage years that caused lengthy power cuts and seemed to last a while, I thought it was the December 1990 event but now Im not so sure, as Ive just remembered that the Dec 1990 event was one snow event I hated because I was supposed to be going to a computer show in London and I couldnt go because the trains were cancelled. I thought the event where I was without power for days was a separate incident, but I suppose it could have been the same one, anybody recall any other midlands snow candidates in the 1986-1990 timeframe which featured lengthy power cuts in some areas? Back to the present I am about to look at the radar, although I probably shouldnt be spending this evening being a snow hoper, might watch that grumpy tv program to get me ready for the inevitable disappointment.
  7. Ta very much, if I scroll around on that map it seems I am about 2 miles too far west to get this 3am fun, which leaves me with questions about where the precipitation is coming from, whether my location will be too warm, etc. I will probably get up in the middle of the night to review the situation.
  8. So have the BBC, Met or anyone else actually named any places that might get snow tonight? Ive seen various charts and stuff but no forecasts for anywhere specific that show snow. Anyway Merry Christmas all, regardless of the weather. PS. Any tips for where I can look if I want to geek out by seeing old charts of snow events I have lodged in my memory from the 1990-1996 period? For a starter, the December 1990 (I think) event that left me snowed in in Nuneaton with a battery radio for company. Doesnt even have to be charts, can just be anectodes or descriptions of the event and what weather setup caused it.
  9. Yep very light rain in Nuneaton at the moment too. Ive been silently driving myself mad for more than a week with forum & radar watching, now I finally get precip and its the wrong sort, oh well, never mind, at least I was outside when we got a weensy bit of snow on Saturday. I suppose there is a tiny chance things will be more snow-like when it gets heavier, but I dont place much hope on it.
  10. Little bit heavier in Nuneaton now but I cant see it amounting to much.
  11. Snow in Nuneaton for nearly an hour now, only sticking to my neighbours skylight so far. Pretty much all day (as far as I can remember) the met office forecast had rain/sleet at 6pm and 9pm and then heavy snow at midnight and 3am, so Im not too shocked by how things are turning out so far.
  12. It stopped snowing in Nuneaton before 9am, but has just started again.
  13. My first post to these forums - its snowing in Nuneaton. Yay!
