  1. We are just in the Amber area for rain now. River Gt Ouse is already high and experienced some flooding locally on Christmas Eve. We got an automated call to take immediate action, but fortunately for us the river only just lapped on to the quayside.
  2. I just saw that too, quite pleased really with my daughter having to be out at that time going to work to see her patients.
  3. Went out this morning to our support bubble. Left St Ives in thick freezing fog. Arrived in Sawtry less than 15 miles away northwards to clear blue sky and unbroken sunshine Car temp read 11c as we got in it to go home admittedly been sat in the sun. Got home, thick fog again and temp on the dash said 1c
  4. Just been out and everywhere is inundated, Earith and Low Rd closed.
  5. Up here in the north of this region we don't seem to do that well. Too often a Green oasis, but we did get a slight covering a week or two ago. Better luck this winter perhaps, must be our turn one day, strangely though an Easterly isn't that great for us.
  6. I'd be careful if the supermarkets are running low there, you might end up next to the mushy peas.
  7. I'm off to Germany tomorrow just over the Belgian border and they are predicting 40c on Thursday which would be their all time high. The models from the German Met office seem to be going for high pressure keeping the lows over the UK and moving NE
  8. I remember that February 1998 warm spell, we were on holiday in Devon (Wembury Bay) One day was spent on the beach in shorts and t shirt another sat eating ice creams outside a café.
  9. Snowing here, settling on the pavements, nice to look at, but nothing of note
  10. Low just after dawn here of -6.3c Just watching it get light over the RSPB reserve lakes at the rear of my house, actually looks cold today.
  11. I was born on Dec 22nd 1958 and have never seen it snow on my birthday. Admittedly I have spent most of it in London and Easy Anglia so not that surprising I suppose. Got lucky in 1986, went to Igls near Innsbruck and it hardly stopped all week, but that's cheating Not expecting that to change this year, just have to shoot off somewhere a bit more wintry
  12. Must have something going for us, awful lot of people from eastern Europe want to come here
  13. Do hope the weather to the east of europe makes it to the UK. Left London on a murky wet cool day and arrived in Berlin to a sunny warm afternoon and evening Friends are in Nice and its none too pleasant there either, so let that high extend across and all will be well
  14. No it wouldn't, especially bad for wildlife and lets just have what we expect for spring
  15. Looks like its getting progressively warmer from the east, but we still look to be on the cusp. I'm off to Berlin for a few days and it looks quite warm there this coming week hope its arrived here by the time I return
  16. I'll be glad when it thaws, forgot to put de-icer in the windscreen washer bottle, frozen solid and hope the pump still works.
  17. Just been out to feed and water the birds, reckon we had 3ins to 4ins of snow yesterday, noticeably warmer and weather station reads -0.1c Seed and fat balls depleted, off up town later to replenish supplies, be nice to warm up a bit this week
  18. How's this for irony, power problems at the local Waitrose last night and the refrigeration system failed on the coldest night of the winter. Hardly any fresh or chilled foodstuffs available, luckily I only really went for a stroll and have plenty of grub in.
  19. Light snow here and weather station on my shed reckons its -4.4c. Went out to de-ice the birds water and put the bin out, wind is rather chilly and might leave going out until it warms up slightly
  20. Just seen on the news that Maplins have gone bust, don't suppose the guarantee on their own brand keyboard I bought from them last week is worth much.
  21. No complaints here, but since last Saturday the weather has been quite pleasant with plenty of winter sunshine. Went into Cambridge today and it was quite a comfortable temperature for wandering around plus the forecast seems to have kept some of the old codgers indoors.
  22. No idea if we are due anything here, next to nothing in 2010 when the SE and everywhere else got hammered. So not expecting much, but slight changes in wind direction could give a few showers
  23. Same could be said about 2010 and Cambridgeshire, saw an aerial photo of the UK and we were the one green patch. Can't say about 1991, was back home in the East End then and we certainly had a job lot of snow My missus was heavily pregnant at the time and didn't want to go out for fear of falling over
  24. Saw one big old Bumblebee last Wednesday at my local RSPB reserve, Lots of kids playing on the beach at Sheringham today, also one hardy bloke stripped down to his trunks and went for a dip in the North Sea.
  25. I remember the thundersnow, I was on a first aid requalification course at a hotel in Bar Hill. Got out early and jumped on a Whippet bus home, just in time before the A14 came to a standstill.
