  1. I can see this turning into a very annoying event for us in Wales! 2.3ºC here, dew point -4.9ºC with light rain.
  2. So is it correct that the 850hPa temperatures are going to fall through Friday? Otherwise it will be predominately freezing rain which is horrible! I remember New Year's Eve 1995, everywhere was a sheet of ice thanks to freezing rain. It was my Dad's 60th birthday and quite a few people had accidents on the way to my parents' house!
  3. The Met Office have also included London and the South-East in the snow alert - but the yellow area doesn't even cover them! Yet sometimes Wales is excluded from warnings when we are in the firing line! Oh I give up!
  4. Still snowing like mad here, good covering. Temp 0.2ºC, dew point -8.5ºC.
  5. Moderate snow here, settling fairly easily. Small flakes though.
  6. This front really is hanging around! Was clearing away southwestwards but seems to have stalled again.
  7. I have about the same here - however, it has been snowing for over 20 hours so it could have been much better. Mustn't grumble though as some people didn't get anything.
  8. Cars and grass have a covering but it's been a ridiculous waste of snow all these hours really. Saying that though, precipitation seems to intensified slightly. As for the radar, the front has narrowed but it doesn't look like it's about to die out to me.
  9. This is a painfully slow process. Snow continues to fall but it is not settling well at all - a slight covering on cars and some of the grass but not much.
  10. Snow coming down heavier now so fingers crossed, temperatures are slowly falling too.
  11. Agreed. I don't think many are going to get much out of this to be honest. Even though it has turned to snow in Nantymoel now it is still very light.
  12. Still sleet but turning more and more to snow here but still quite light - mountains are rather white though and a little bit more altitude seems to be making a lot of difference.
  13. Very light rain up here at the moment, Temp 3.3 although has dropped from 3.6 in about 10 mins. Dewpoint is -5.9 however.
  14. Starting to turn to snow at last here in Nantymoel, very light at the moment though.
  15. I have a horrible feeling this may all clear away before it really turns to snow.
  16. Well, just took another drive up and this time noticed a few splodges of sleet on the windscreen! Didn't notice any the first time though but maybe I missed them lol. Temp in the valley now 3.3º - dropping very slowly as I said but dewpoint is still 2.2º.
  17. Temp here in Nantymoel (230m) is 3.4ºC, Dew point 2.2ºC. Air temp is dropping very slowly, dew point has been constant for a good few hours now though. Light rain here. Drove over the Bwlch mountain (440m) about 15 mins ago and it's rain up there at the moment, no sleet yet. Car thermometer indicated 2ºC up there but as someone else said, not sure how accurate these are.
  18. IT's finally started to settle here in North Cardiff, largely due to heavier precipitation and much larger flakes. By the look of the radar it will all come to and end before too long though. Caerphilly mountain is rather white!
  19. Hardly anything at all, at the moment. There's about an inch on the ground though.
  20. The precipitation to the east of Tewkesbury could well pivot and affect us in a few hours. Fairly soon Swansea will be getting all the heavy stuff on the western side of the low pressure.
  21. snow slackening a little in Cardiff now, looks from the radar that the precipitation to hit us will be rather sporadic in nature, most of it looks to be on the western flank of the low so Swansea should do well when it hits.
  22. Recently rain here in Cardiff has turned to heavy sleet and is turning increasingly to snow.
