OK - children's school clothes out ready, sanwiches made, bags packed - but still raining in Cardiff

You guys seen this from the MetO?
Great for watching the temperature and weather across the country as things change...
I like this! Hi all, Happy Met Office watching today - got very excited with the upgrade earlier but I don't think it's going to come to much at least in Cardiff - but never mind! Is anybody else thinking that Nov and Dec seemed to be very Autumnal and we might be in for a late but cold winter by about January/February?
Wishful thinking perhaps!
-
It's been a long winter on here.
Hasn't it just!
Dydd Gwyl Dewi hapus i bawb - looking forward to long hot days and BBQs from now on!!
-
Probably that's more due to the fact that wintry weather is forecast, whereas this really isn't the case at the moment.
You think?!!!
I think that was probably irony from Ourson.
Lucky that we're here to discuss the weather not for the amusing banter eh

Wasn't the moon fabulous tonight!! I am so pleased that the days are getting longer. Looks like a sunny outlook for us in Wales although chilly - lovely!! No snow by the looks of it on the charts ATM.
-
What a dull day water logged fields in Carmarthen, where I finally passed my driving test! Haleliwia
Would much rather frost, snow and ice. Looks like January will return fairly average in terms of CET however.
Llongyfarchiadau Adam!!

Quite bizzare - but the met office are showing a bit of snow on Friday. !!!!! You have to look at the wales forecast (not the whole country) on Friday morning and there it is - the snowflake for us all to share - I suspect it will fall in Andy's back yard!. Not sure where it's coming from?! Any ideas?
Sorry Cwmbran eira - I posted before I saw your post ( and the previous ones!!)
-
O joy - wind and rain..... My favourite.
I'm still keeping the faith - there will be snow in march
Now this is exactly why you are nearly extinct ourson - too much ramping!!!!!! There will be snow in March possibly but none will stick. Lost the faith x

Re: Charts
These charts are completely unreliable in any time frame in my opinion. There have been FI forecasts for snow 'next week' all through this winter and nothing has come to anything. The ground is too warm - crocuses are blossoming. Spring is very nearly springing- still wondering where all the rain forecast went though???
-
Disagree you only love him because he tells you what you want to here when it comes to snow, and trouble wiht forecasts is they never always materialise in his case, dont get me wrong i love snow, but hearing wow mega snow, blizzard blizzard etc all the time is damn right boring, and then when it wont snow ramping that it will however tomorrow i still think we will see snow, i actually agree. but people need to stop only reading what they want to read and go from there you need to evaluate everything, (awaits abuse)
O Adam - lle mae'r hwyl? Mae'r Gaeaf yn araf dirwyn i ben gobeithio a doedd dim angen siartiau GFS ayb i ddweud hwn wrthon ni - mae'n ddigon ein bod yn gynnes a'n glyd yn ein gweliau
Oh Adam - where's the hwyl ( untranslateable really - closest is fun but doen't really do it in my opinion)? Winter is slowly receding we hope and we didn't need any charts to tell us that really - we know because we are warm and comfortable in our beds.
Roll on spring - the sap's rising, so get you feather dusters at the ready!

Cardiff bay stats:
Temp:4.2c but windchill 1.5
Dewpoint has dropped to 0.4 (0.6 last night)
Wind has veered NEasterly and strengthening.
Could this keep those showers from disappearing into England I wonder?!!!
-
bit early to start a panic but the front seems very slow and it has a bloody long way to travel to reach me before sunlight!!!
rain today radar showing precipitation at the moment for most of south west wales. Is it snowing where you are??
-
OK. This is my totally unbiased by any charts forecast for Cardiff. Sat : might catch a snow shower, Sun: ditto, perhaps might have a little bit overnight, Monday: rain rain and more rain. Aargh!!! I so hope I am wrong!!! Posting this again because I think I might be right - unfortunately!!<BR class=clear>Any evidence to the contrary happily received.

And NEXT WEEK
I respect your prediction and I know cause it's cardiff it's harder to get snow but - the colder air will dig in and I'm sure you will get snow - Sunday morning is a good prospect and monday morning also
Thank you Andy, it is very cold here tonight but day temps seem to be getting up too high. Can't see snowmargeddon sorry! Enjoy up in the snowfields of the upper valleys though !! Don't really want any more snow anyway - have kids to get through their exams!!!

I am not sure about Google, but I used to watch all sorts of free radar stuff (usually about 30 mins behind at least), until I discovered NW radar. You can get this for £3.49 /month, which whilst not peanuts is great value.
PS I said to the Mrs earlier "bloody radar says it should be snowing now....oh....it is...."
Nice advert for NW radar. Are you on commission? What sort of discount do you get? I might plug it myself if it's a significant saving!!
Looking forward to next week - even Cardiff might see some tidy snow
-
I feel sorry for you mate - saw the prog the other night - I think he was telling some fibs to raise cash cause he knew the situation he was in! - unfortunately this guys been involved with too many problem businesses before - it just seems to be his style and he doesn't seem to be learning his lesson
(sorry for this being off topic)
Off topic is one thing, but football!?!!!!!! I've half a mind to report you for gross misconduct. However, I am too busy feeding my lampost and praying!!

This is the netweather watch for those who haven't seen it. Looking good:
Overnight, where skies clear in the west, widespread ice is likely on untreated roads and pavements where rain, sleet and snow has fallen today.
During Friday, sleet and snow will clear Eastern England through morning, while further west, sleet and snow showers will develop in the cold northwesterly flow across N. Ireland, and down across Wales and SW England, accumulations of a few cm are possible at lower levels, several cm over Welsh mountains and SW Moors, leading to treacherous driving conditions in places.
Confidence: 80%

Interesting fact: I teach the daughter of the man who decides whether to close (or not) the bwlch rd. Isn't that cool!
-
I understand that if it didn't happen to him, then it may be doesn't happen to anyone else - I can sympathise - but I got the 3 - 4 inches of snow outside nicely freezing over night now - so I suppose I shouldn't be bothered
Which at the end of the day - doesn't really matter one way or the other. We got snow, some got a little bit, some got a lot, and more to come so happy days guys. Too much testosterone on this forum right now. Think I might throw my rattle out of the pram as well. Da iawn Jackone for being the Kofi Annan of the evening.

Blizzard or no blizzard. That seems to be the question. It certainly snowed heavily where I was today but wasn't enough wind IMO to make it a blizzard. ( and not one snowflake stuck!). However I suspect that some people probably did have blizzard conditions. It is probably down to microclimates at differing altitudes etc. We had a mini tornado in work a couple of years back, it travelled down the steps to the yard, across the red-gra and disappeared - amazing! Wasn't on the news though!!
-
Is that the best you can do Marcus - very poor show I must say.
Only joking!!!
-
Sure, but you dont need to put down people to say that! Just defending what I feel are valuable contributors here as surprised noone else has done so before, he's been winding up to this all week sarcastically going on about 'data this data that'! Sorry, cant stand it when people are rude and condescending like this.
Dydd Mercher hapus i bawb, Happy Wednesday to all!!
I expect that pascals tongue is very firmly in his cheek and he is not having a go at anybody apart from pompous 'know it alls' that appear on some forums (or should that be fori?!!). Nevertheless - snow tommorrow?! I would be very surprised in Cardiff and up the valley where I work - it really doesn't seem cold enough, even though the car seemed to be stuck on 4 degrees all day and the wind was chilly. Haven't had to scape the car windscreen for days ( I think?!! In our house scraping the car constitutes as a blue job, along with taking out the bins and doing random stuff with power tools).

Sorry most of us are so incredibly dull and boring to you then!
I am sure 99% of contributors to NW have a genuine interest/ love of weather and wish to inform other people.
There are naturally all different levels of knowledge and interest on the forums, and I feel that is a good thing. Don't think it terribly kind of you to put down 99% of contributors on here- that is most disparaging.
Brief moderate snow shower this morning after a hard frost, minimum -5.7c.
Apologies if that's too much technical jargon and data for you- I have been keeping weather records for almost 40 years, sorry if you find that so dull...it is a weather forum I thought it might be relevant and interesting.
Boys, boys put your handbags down! I think what pascals was trying to say is that this is a much more relaxed forum than some of the others which cannot be named! All the talk of LP, HP, FI, UKMO, GFS 12Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz - does tend to leave you a little bit lightheaded particularly when it does not actually transpire!!! Actual data is good, it gives us a picture of what's happening around Wales and what might come. That's my opinion anyway
