  1. Afternoon guys, Nicks blog pretty much sums up our day/night! We took the long drive north from Sonora > Ozona > Lubbock > Amarillo. There is only one place to eat in Amarillo and that's the 'Big Texan' all guests said it was the best steak they have ever had! This place just can't be beaten for atmosphere, value and quality! The weather pattern over the next few days is looking very quiet and we will be picking off any storm we can, we are going to bust a grove to Colorado as there is a small chance storms might fire off the Rocky Mountains. First stop is Dumass and Braums!
  2. Flooding on the 285 to Fort Stockton Decaying cell approaching over the mountains Rainbow at the end of the day Frustrating chase day, but its all part of the game!
  3. Busted out the wide angle, great view of the entire storm!
  4. Wicked vid of us getting cored.... Hell of a ride!
  5. Quick Update - Just west of Artesia, watching a storm pulse up and down, it should come of the mountains soon and the chase will be on Keep an eye on the stream!
  6. First CG of the day North of Carlsbad before Mid Day local, not too bad!
  7. Travel day today to re-position for the NM North West flow up-slope play, we left Kerrville and drove W on the i10 stopping for a leisurely lunch in Sonora, we then headed to Fort Stockton to gas up then jumped on the 285 NW to New Mexico, I have got to say the scenery around this part of Texas is obscene!. After grabbing some shots with the NM sign we settled on Carlsbad as our location for the evening. We found a great independent restaurant for this evenings meal. For those who watched the live stream, the coverage is appalling around here, and this could be a similar story for tomorrow as well...sorry! On a more funny note, for some explicable reason Paul used my shave gel as shower gel this morning, I think he is losing it Tomorrow is looking like a good day, supercells with great structure and very large hail. Tornado threat is minimal as the bases are going to be elevated and a limited amounts of rotation predicted, initiation is expected to form between Carlsbad and Fort Stockton. We are not too far away from Roswell which would have been a good stop off and we could potentially start out chase up there tomorrow, but for now here is a time lapse of today's trip! I know I needed to turn manual focus on and we do not have a dash mount for the camera!
  8. Trying to upload some pics, not sure whats up with this part of the world.....
  9. Hey guys hope your enjoying your Saturday, here is my write up from yesterday, need to get chase day 1 done, wait till you see the footage from MCS that nailed us! http://twistedskies.net/blog/?page_id=21
  10. Quickly snapped these while driving past, this event also overturned 18 wheeler s and bent and snapped trees and power poles. I spoke with one local who said it was the worst storm to hit the area in over 20 years! Gotta admit it was a bit bloody awesome!
  11. We are smashing it! Paul told me about the 'rave' in Nebraska what a b***ch!
  12. Couple more shots to keep you entertained when you wake up! We are still on the road but where are we headed!!? Captions Please lmao
  13. Hi Guys, I know Paul S will do a full report for you a bit later but we managed to get on a rotating cell here is a quick time lapse. On a day were we did not expect to see anything this was a bit of a treat. Paul almost decided not to chase these but a bit of peer pressure did the trick Full update to follow!
  14. Good evening guys, quick update from us stateside: After a late night last night, we checked out at a 11am and headed to Padre Island to see if we could spot any convection coming on to the gulf, after a quick swim we headed out of Corpus Christi with the aim of heading to Victoria. After stopping for lunch we noticed a CU field starting to form and some turkey towers going up and down. Checking all obs, vis sats and the SPC we noticed storms starting to fire on a convergence zone. We are currently heading northwards to pick off any storms that come off this. We can't go too far east today otherwise we will put ourselves out of position for the risks in New Mexico tomorrow. Keep checking the stream, I will update the ticker on a regular basis, enjoy your Friday evenings!
  15. Going down to stockdale and then east from there to get that second cell
  16. Quick update - In San Marcos North East of San Antonio we have 3 Tornado warned cells to our South moving North East, we are just getting fuel and then making a decision to see how we can intercept. Live stream up and running.
  17. Okay loading up the lappy with music, any request for those on the first tour?!
  18. I have spoken to Nick and he is all for heading north if thats the play we decide we are going to go for. Things are starting to look more positive
  19. If there is a storm on the contiguous US we WILLget it!
  20. Rob, you picked a great Tour to go on, great storm potential and lots of banter as well! Have a good'un! Ah to do more than 1 tour a year thats the dream! Glad you guys are looking forward to it! For no reason other than a guess I am going to say your first nado will be in Oklahoma! See you guys in Dallas!
  21. I am feeling good about Tour 2, as Paul said with the abundent supply of moisture there is a good chance of activity, large hailers and lots of lightning. Still time for the elements to come together to give any potential storms a tornadic element. Can't believe Tour 1 though, typical. That cheeky bonus chase day would have been a great start!
  22. Still plenty of time! Have had poor model outlooks before both my previous tours and had high risks on both of those, would prefer not to have to drive up to the Canadian boarder though. Good job tour 1 was canned, how can I see GFS runs for the US on Netweather?!
  23. Eye's on the model time! I hate this bit.......from now on in I will be glued to the model runs! Still early days for T2 though!
  24. 2 weeks for the first tour peoples! Hope you are starting to get all your gear together! ;-)
