Surrey hills is further south than me, I got snow here now and yet the hills dont... Snow is a wicked beast small distances making massive differences
There are heavy wet flakes falling among the rain here in Addlestone. Just had a pic from my mother in Gloucestershire - a nice covering of snow there

Currently enjoying glorious hot sunshine in Surrey but concerned at the current timing of our family holiday to north Devon from Saturday. Sod's law that the forecast is poor just as our two-week break starts near Exmoor.
Timing couldn't be worse!

Just a thought, if we can reach 30C or more until Thursday would that be the longest run of 30C days since August 2003?
Met Office just tweeted: "This hot spell is set to be the first time for over 20 years that somewhere in the UK has reached over 30 °C for 5 consecutive days in June"
Will be interesting to see how details are firmed up for later this week into the weekend, whatever happens this has been a memorable hot spell.

Good morning Britain main headlines:
"Snow brings Winter hell across the country"
"Winter chaos"
It really is a cringeworthy as you can get... Even my partner who is Português has just said "what's the big deal" "it's a Tiny weeney bit of snow"
Love this!

Sleet on cusp of snow now falling in central London, just left Broadcasting House. Feels chilly and there's that familiar smell of snow in the air
Quickly turned to wet snow, let the fun begin. Thankfully I'm off to some leaving drinks so may be stranded surrounded by booze

Yes it would be if intensity sufficient enough as it brings the freezing level down-
the echoes at the moment suggest its looking good intensity wise

Lightning seems to have died down a little other than the occasional very close strike but the rain rate has increased dramatically, local roads have surface flooding
Yep, seems to be calming down a bit here, did have a huge crack of thunder earlier, seemed to be very near.
Having said that, it's just started rumbling again!

Belting it down here in Addlestone - huge crack of thunder earlier!

I think this is the hottest it's ever been so late in the year, nothing that I can see in the records beats it. I also wonder if the UK's hottest day of the year has ever been recorded so late in the season. Great to see this spell lasting into the week.

Any idea when the latest highest temp of the year has been recorded, surely 13th Sept has to be a record?
