Interesting little feature which has been around for a day or two. Could bring very strong winds to channel these moving N during the day with a brief spell of 50 to 55 mph gusts going through Yorkshire later.

Possibility for the odd strike UK wide today, ESSL has parts of the NW slightly favourable this evening.  Estofex is favouring the southern half.  We'll see.

matty40s thanks. So, presuming they start with A, they've named more than us and Ireland have named? If we name one, do the french use that name, or come up with their own?

Not sure whether it's this storm and / or the after-effects of Katherine, but a combination of high tides, wind and rain have resulted in some pretty devastating floods in and around Shoreham, Littlehampton and Cowes (IOW), as shown on the news tonight.

Yes pretty bad flooding here overnight as tides were a record high 7m. I didn't actually see any flooding myself although I live by the river as the tide receded before dawn, but lots of homes and businesses have been ruined.
