Well what an end to the month ;) .

Very warm sunshine all morning then hazy sunshine until 13.00. Cludy for a few hours before some hot sun lifted temps to 27c. Then from 16.30 a series of thunderstorms with frequent lightning and 5mm of rain in total.

Much fresher now at 17c and some clear sky.

Welcome to net-weather 'I can't believe its not better'. The skies are now clear after the rain and its quite cool outside at 17C but still muggy. I though storms were supposed to clear the air.

Once again here has not seen thunder - whereas everywhere else in the northwest has - 5 times now - shouldn't complain but 5 times in a summer is pretty annoying. been dry for the most part

Still very warm here there is cloud cover with light breeze. According to the UK lightning chart we should have thunder and lightning all around but nothing seen or heard  So why haven't I seen or heard any???

Callie ;)

Report for Wednesday 31st August 2005, Readings taken at 23:55.

A very hot and humid day, finished off with some spectacular violent thunderstorms. The morning started off misty, but this quickly burnt off to give a sunny morning. Cloud gradually built in the afternoon and by around 5pm it had become overcast and even more humid. The evening saw three thunderstorms come over, with lightning strikes every few seconds and some very heavy rain. Before the second of these storms the pressure fell 2mb in 5 minutes and the humidity quickly increased from 78% to 87%. Last night was the warmest since 15th July and the day the second warmest this month, meaning overall the day was well above average.

Current Temp: 17.8°C

Max Temp: 26.3°C (at 15:43)

Min Temp: 15.1°C (at 06:39)

Humidity: 89%

Min Humidity: 61% (at 16:03)

Pressure: 1006.6hPa (Fluctuating)

Dewpoint: 16.0°C

Wind: ESE (Calm)

Rain Today: 10.8mm

My August 2005 average is 16.9°C (+0.5°C Above the 1971-2000 average).
