I hope that this isn´t offtopic :unsure:

This morning was very cold B) On my station (355m) was only +3,5°C, but in some other places was first frost - especialy in some cold air pools (sinkholes).

Tmin was -2,8°C in Rateče (Gorenjska region).

Now the sone is shining and temperature is +8,8°C

Also I have heard the alps are getting very early snowfalls starting tomorrow - I hope this means for a good skiing season :unsure:

Yes, in Slovenian Alps on 2500m is 15 cm of snow. 21.9. there was almost 40 cm.

On monday we expect a lot of rain and snow in mountains :unsure:

Snow is now on 2000 m.

I heard from my friends a lot of reports about first frost.

In the Dolomites we are expecting snow on Sunday and Monday. The quote for early snow falls will be at 1600 slm (meters). I will post the web cams of the area once the white flakes will fall B) Regarding the ski season in the last years the artificial one seemed have solve the problem for the skier :unsure:

Nice! Are you keen on climbing? Those rocks are known as the best on the area for climbing.I did several ways there, the rock is outstanding. Ciao B)

I get some new information about temperatures in sinkholes today. My friend has measured even -6,4°C (at 5cm). The other colleague reporting about temperature -5,1°C in 25.9.

This year we have a lot of extreme cases in weather :unsure:

It will be another chilly night. It is +10,8 and clearly sky. Air pressure is falling.

I find Iztok weather station very interesting. I know the place and I been inthe area several times and I can assure is one of the coldest place in west europe and it's not far from the Adriatic sea! Also in north east Italy, 45 km from Venice where I live there is a similar location. The location is Cansiglio, a rocky plateau at 900 metres above sea level and it's known for the terrific temperature inversion. The last March we recorded a temperature of minus 36,5 while, 600 metres higher on the nearby peak, minus 15. Around 2600 m, I thing

Here is one graph of temperature last few days in sinkhole Medunjska grapa near Grosuplje. Tmin was -2,2 on 1.10. On 2.10. was -0,8 at 2.30am, than became more cloudy :lol: You can see more on my website.

Can you please tell me the height of the mountains that surround your special karst ( sink hole ) in the location where you expect to record -40C this winter ?

I don´t know if will be -40 this year , but you never know :lol: My friend is in march already measured -41,1 in one sinkhole in Julian Alps.

Karst basin (Vala) is near Croatia border, few km south from mountain Snežnik. The other one, Smrekova draga is north from Snežnik.

The nearby location is Ilirska bistrica (it is on map).

ps: NE from Snežnik is a valley that we call Slovene Siberia (official record is around -36; on weather station).
