Temperature here is -3.6ºC under overcast skies, but rising slowly.

Minimum this morning a respectable -6.7ºC although had the night been clear throughout it would have dipped much lower. Temperature at 1200z today was -4.3ºC.

7cm snow cover.

An ice day by quite some wedge.

Big Snow event for Eastern England and Scotland for a good 4-6 hours ! Sounds good, then sleet, and eventually rain. ;)

Can we really expect something special, even for only a few hours ?

The BBC issued a Emergency weather warning at 21:30 this evening, very unusual for them.

Any views ?

Report for Thursday 29th December 2005, Readings taken at 00:00.

The coldest day I have ever recorded, and by some way. The minima today of -4.2°C is the lowest since 2nd March 2004 and the maxima of -1.2°C is the lowest I have ever recorded. The day was mostly cloudy with a layer of thick freezing fog which persisted until well into the evening. At present it is overcast, signalling the arrival of the front which will end this exceptional cold spell. The average temperature today was -2.7°C, exceptionally below average and feeling bitterly cold despite there being no wind at all.

Current Temp: -2.7°C

Max Temp: -1.2°C (at 12:17)

Min Temp: -4.2°C (at 16:19)

Humidity: 92%

Min Humidity: 90% (at 06:48)

Pressure: 1008.8hPa (Falling)

Dewpoint: -3.8°C

Wind: Unknown (Anemometre Frozen!) - stuck at NNW (calm)

Rain Today: Trace

My December average currently stands at 4.8°C (-0.3°C Below the 1971-2000 average).
