ok here's a daft question, my weather station automatically says the baro pressure is either falling or rising, that's easy to see, but when it adds 'rapidly' at what point does it become rapid? over what mb per hour?

not sure with the auto wx stn set up, but in Met O terminology its usually > 3mb per 3 hour, although >5mb per 3 hr is a better mark. A bit subjective Paula. It may tell you in your auto wx stn guide what they use for that term.

Hang on up there, breezy today and possibly more so on Sunday.

Naturally Net Wx will keep you and all others up to date, well, as far as we can!

thanks John, just a rough guide does me so what you have put is great thanks, it's something i have wondered about for a while but kept forgetting to ask lol.

It's not too bad today, though looking at various charts for sunday we'll either be in the middle (maybe calmer?) or just in the wild stuff but not as wild as the western isles will get it, it's them that need to strap the slates on i reckon

Pressure tendency definitions are:

Rising/falling slowly - change of 0.1 to 1.5mb in 3 hours

Rising/falling - change of 1.6 to 3.5mb in 3 hours

Rising/falling quickly - change of 3.6mb to 6mb in 3 hours

Rising/falling very rapidly - change of more than 6.0mb in 3 hours.
