May 1902 was the coldest May of the 20th century and just beating May 1996 by -0.2c with a mean temperature of just 8.9c (-2.4c)

Looking at the archive charts winds were mostly from a North or North easterly direction until the 23rd when high pressure momentarily pushed north with it bringing the temperatures into the low 20s for a time before turnign colder again.

Anyone have any temperature records for this month?

I've got all the Meteorological Society weekly and monthly weather reports for that ( and a good many other ) year(s).

I'll dig them out tomorrow if I get chance and take a look.

It was cold here in Jersey - the 2nd coldest May between 1894 and 2006.

May 1902 - mean max 12.6C and mean min 7.2C (Overall 9.9C)

May 1941 - mean max 12.9C and mean min 6.8C (Overall 9.8C)

May 1996 overall was 11.0C down here, quite a lot warmer than 1902 or 1941.
