River Don (and many more rivers) have burst its banks. Roads closed all over, everywhere is gridlocked, and the Winter Gardens in the SHeffield City Centre has been turned into a survival centre for stranded people)

i don't normally post two reports a day, but today has been rather unusual.

Besides being very wet, it’s been quite a strange day here, it was very cool, windy and rainy until around 10am, with the temperature around 12.5c. Around lunch time, the sky brightened and the sun came and the wind fell almost calm out for around an hour and a half and the temperature shot up to 18c, (the centre of the low) It was so pleasant, I sat out side in the garden.

Around 3pm the sky darkened again, the heavy rain returned and the wind started gusting to 21mph and the temperature dropped back to 12.5c.

Currently overcast with light rain and a fresh wind form the north.

Heavy rain then drizzle this morning.

A clearance to sunny spells from about 12-16.00 but also a gale force N'ly wind picked up.

Squally showers early in the evening and now drizzle with the N'ly gale.

Great coverage on news 24. Just stopping raining. We have had 73mm since midnight. The flooded areas are mainly near the river Don and in the east of the city and in the Don valley.

Here in Oxford, I have the central heating on and it feels like autumn. Temps are 13 degrees c and 81 per cent humidity. Wish I knew mph of wind gusts but in last ten mins these were giving a good blow?...can anyone help me?...ooh but strangely just this second it has gone very very quiet..dark yes but then it is 21.40 hrs..or should it still be quite light.......
