a sunny start to the day with a sly wind, temp is 8.1C from its low of 2.6C very early hours, rain yetserday evening finally stopped before midnight. Much wetter last evening in Sheffield and noticeably colder too late evening before I left there.

Clear skies for a time last night allowed the temperature to fall enough for a ground frost, minimum air temperature 2.5c, grass minimum –1.5c. Cloud, rain and strong winds reached the area early this morning with an ESE gust of 45mph around 08:00hrs. At 9am, overcast and windy with slight drizzle. The morning continued overcast with light rain at times, although with the ESE wind moderated and veered SW. The afternoon became brighter with sunny spells, but also blustery showers. Top temperature 11.8, rain 1mm.

Clear intervals overnight followed by a bright start.

This deceived however...periods of rain since 0900 have been heavy at times, even with brief torrential bursts this afternoon. Strong-gale force southerly wind too.
