This sunset photo was taken from the 19th floor of a building in Croydon in October 2007. The photographer, a friend of mine, is wondering what has caused this apparent show of three suns. Is it simply a trick of the light/dodgy reflections in the office windows, or is there another explanation? he has worked there for several years and seen many sunsets, but never anything like this before or since.

Any possible explanations would be gratefully received.

I wonder is it reflected by the glazing of the office. Triple glazing would give two extra suns, double glazing one extra sun.

Thats my guess anyway :help:

Yes I would tend to agree, the angle of light causing refraction through two pane layers seems a plausible explanation

It was posted after 12 noon yesterday Icer

I would say its reflection within a double or triple glazed panel too, the result though is a great photo which when you look close is quite realistic as the suns are behind the layers of cloud in a very possible way, the give away I guess if where the cloud lays across the sun in exactly the same place in each of its reflected images.
