Strange Columns Of Light

These strange coloured columns of light have been seen

in Latvia and across Europe during these cold weeks.

Maybe due to the urban lights reflecting on suspended ice crystals

in the air it says here .. (more pics too)

If you check back over some of the recent archives on 'soaceweather' you'll find some nice piccies of similar and the explainations for them (and many other atmospheric anoms such as sun pillars etc) . They are indeed due to suspended ice crystals but don't tell the readers......they need something to worry about now the prospect of an eastern european migrant/gypsie invasion is off the cards.....

Seen these lights in this country, the night of 29th/30th December 2000.

It was very cold that night with lying snow and crystals of ice in the air.
