On the 29th August 1936 in Rickmansworth, the temperature rose within 9 hours from an overnight low of 1.1 °C to an afternoon high of 29.4°C. Meteorologist Helen Young visits the bizarre frost hollow of Rickmansworth, near the Chilterns and talks to Phillip Eden on a Radio 7 program here:
