the thunder isn't boomy - it's more like metal flexing, or rolf harris's wobble board... sounds just like a tropical storm

Thx PBS

its nice to know that there are a few of us out there...who have forgotten what a UK storm looks like

On a slight positive note for the South West the cell down there is still going but VERY messy and doesnt look up to much at this point in time..

Im calling it a year for Storms here...

Only 9 months to USA...SUPERCELL HEAVEN

Theres even lightning showing up in Ireland, nothing in the rainband which is`nt surprising, the SW looks more active for heavy rain.

But a very wet night here already had 16mm today,it`s peppped up in the last hour or more, midlands looks very dry.

Lots of flashes around here now, not much thunder yet, the radar shows the heavier storms to be north and south of here, it's like they are avoiding here (mind saying that, who blames them?) lol

what a seriously crap storm.

1 lightning strike, the one I mentioned over 10 minutes ago.

You know what, the last storm I saw with frequent lightning wasn't actually 5 years ago, it was 1 year ago, Beginning of August last year, BUT - it was in phoenix, Arizona and was pretty damn impressive. Lightning every 5-10 seconds.

Accuweather's hourly forecast has us down for storms all night and for much of tomorrow.

I'm waiting. :nonono: Why do I get the feeling I could be waiting a while?

Yea my son and I just drove back along the seafront in that rain, after sitting on one of the shelters on the seafront watching the lightshow as it came in. All seems to be quieting down now here though

Just got in after having to drive from frinton over the marshes, and along sea front to clacton.

lightning was continuous, and from everyway possible,

And for those who know my phobia of storms will realise this is my worse nightmare and having to drive in it,but i did even with my eyes shut !

Tell me about it, its been a very bad year so far for us regarding storms. Completely still here, no rain, nothing!

Stunning storm - best one I've seen here in 12 years!!! Not too much rain though, so flooding shouldn't be too bad.

Quite possibly, Jan. (Ow are ya?) I wouldn't rule out any possibility. Kold mentioned the second wave earlier on. That looks even more electrical than the first batch. :nonono:

Nothing here though. (Booooooooooooooo!!) So think I'm going to bed shortly.

Phil.

The main bulk of the lightning now seems to be to the east of Canterbury. Ramsgate direction.

Mostly sheet, but now and again you can see the bolts.
