A fairly miserable day. Predominantly cloudy with showers on and off throughout. The next 24 hours are looking very wet for this part of the country, tomorrow is looking abysmal for late July.

Overall not a bad day here really. Its been pretty sunny and dry until an hour ago when heavy rain moved in. Its now overcast and still raining, albeit lightly.

Rather warm again though. The maximum temperature was 22.4C. Last night's min was 11.9C so a little cool if anything.

The strength of the wind has been a notable feature however.

Nice sunny start to the day then horrible and overcast this afternoon/evening, thank god i don't live further north and west like in shropshire which seems to get more rain than where i am with synoptics like today, i've only had patchy light rainfall while they have had heavier more persistent rainfall, the winds are quite ferocious tonight, its hard to believe it is late July with such dull very windy conditions.

Tomorrow looks even worse with some places very likely to record some very high rainfall amounts and tomorrow evening especially looks terrible with some very gusty winds and heavy torrential rainfall.

A downright miserable evening, with dusk setting in at 9pm it seems with the dark leaden skies it felt as if we had just out the clocks back and hour..

Very heavy rain between 7.30 - 9.30 pm, it quickly cleared though and we just have a few showers to look forward to overnight before the real heavy persistant stuff arrives sometime tomorrow mid morning and once it sets in, it looks like sticking, could easily be some local flooding by the end of the day in parts of the Lake District, the rivers are beginning to swell and the ground is fairly saturated, these are not good times..
