It has been pretty cloudy all day but there has only been one brief shower-looking at the weather radar it would appear that we might just be fortunate and miss all the heavy stuff-currently 18.4c here.

Despite the doom and gloom deluge predictions for today, I have just returned from a wonderful day near Hastings in East Sussex, with warm sunshine and a few clouds. The gardens at Great Dixter house were beautiful, got thoroughly sunburned on top of an already reasonable tan, gained only from the pleasant summer here in the UK. Fell asleep in the shade of a big tree. A beautiful summer's day.

Some light rain from Dartford through to Colchester at 9pm ish tonight.

Intermittent light rain and drizzle through last night, which was mild.

Periods of rain this morning until 10am, very heavy to torrential at times, with 7mm between 0845 and 0945. Mostly dry the rest of the day but cloudy until late afternoon. Sunny intervals after about 1600.

Needless to say- what with all the cloud- it was a cool day. Light to moderate SW to west breeze.

Min: 13.3c

Max: 17.3c @ 1830

Rain yesterday: 18.5mm

Rain since 10am: 0.2mm

Currently: Clear and cool.

Temp: 10.6c

Pressure: 1011mbar, steady.

Over 210mm now for July, which is unusual for a Summer month over here!

A bright and sunny start quickly gave way to overcast skies and rain during the morning. This continued for almost the entire day, with some particularly heavy pulses of rain this evening.

Before the rain moved in it briefly reached 19.8C, but quickly dropped and has remained at or around 15C for much of the afternoon and evening.

Currently overcast but dry and 13.4C. Rain today totalled 19.0mm, the wettest day of the month.

Despite the doom and gloom deluge predictions for today

The doom and gloom deluge predictions were spot on if anything not doom and gloom enough, an absolutely horrendous day in the west midlands, never seen anything like it in July, the torrential rainfall in the evening was just incredible, i was out walking in and got absolutely drenched, there was floods everywhere and i had to stick to main roads or i wouldn't have made it home, cold rain too not hot and thundery rainfall at all so it made it all the worse shivering in late July, buy this mornings national newspapers and you`ll get a good view of of the horrendous condiitons yesterday for a good bulk of england and wales, good to know your little corner had a good day but it wasn't reflective of the majority at all.
